Description

Evolution of Entities introduces an entity ecosystem where your actions shape the survival and evolution of every creature around you. In this world, mobs and animals adapt, evolve, and inherit traits that determine their fitness, abilities, and survivability. Watch as the future unfolds based on who survives, who thrives, and who mutates into something completely unexpected.
Entity Traits & Mutation
Entities receive traits influenced by region, environment, and player interaction.
A trait is an attribute giving the entity some kind of bonus, like for example more health.
Most entities receive traits based on the individual trait's success in the local area.
Animals and other breedable entities receive their traits from their parents.
Mutation is a special, rare trait which allows additional traits to appear that normally do not exist.
It also changes breeding outcomes in chaotic ways.
Evolution Mechanics
Entity traits track their success statistics in a local area,
which is a 64x64 blocks area. The success score is awared to every trait the entity had in that area, the score is mostly determined by player interactions, how many times a mob hit a player, if it manages to kill and how long it lived after encoutering one.
Those regional statistics over time affect how prominent a trait is, the more successful the trait the higher the chance that it appears again. Unsuccessful traits become very rare, nearingly extinct.
Entities which can breed do inherit traits from their parents, if both parents have a trait they inherit it at 99%, one parent at 60%. Additionally they have a small chance to get a regional trait. Players can use this to breed more useful animals which e.g. have more drops, eat more varied food or produce more offspring.
Currently the mod features 20 different traits with more to come, full list below:
