About
Description
Functional Foods overhauls the Minecraft food system by adding unique status effects to every single food item. This encourages players to cook a variety of meals and use them strategically depending on the situation.
Core Mechanics
- Unique Buffs: Each food item grants a unique status effect; for example, Beef grants Strength, and Carrots provide Night Vision.
- Cooking Required: Cookable raw ingredients do not provide any positive buffs. They must be cooked to have their effects.
- Combined Power: Complex meals, such as Rabbit Stew, combine the effects of all their ingredients into a single dish.

Farmer's Delight Integration
This mod is fully compatible with Farmer's Delight and is highly recommended. If installed, every single meal is updated with meaningful status effects. Since Farmer's Delight offers many complex dishes, it vastly expands the variety of buff options available to the player.
FAQ
Why did you make this mod?
I felt that the Minecraft food system lacked depth. I wanted to reward players for cooking a variety of meals instead of relying solely on Baked Potatoes or Bread.
How does this mod work with other mods that add food?
Currently, I have added dedicated compatibility for Farmer's Delight, as it is my favorite mod to use. If you would like to see support for other mods, please reach out to me via Discord.
Does this mod make Alchemy (Brewing) useless?
Yes and no. While food provides buffs, potions remain valuable because you cannot eat when your hunger bar is full. Potions allows you to apply effects on demand, regardless of your saturation levels.
Is this mod balanced?
I need feedback from you to say so. I did my best to give each food item the effects I felt fit most, but I am open to constructive criticism. Please feel free to share your opinions and suggestions with me.
📦 Modpacks & Permissions
You are free to use Functional Foods in any modpack! The only condition is that the mod files must be downloaded via CurseForge or Modrinth.
