Handy Enchantments

Description

Handy Enchantments adds six enchantments that remove the busywork from ordinary play. Nothing here is a new block or a new dimension — it is the set of small conveniences you keep wishing vanilla had.

  • Vein Miner (pickaxe) — break one ore and the whole vein goes with it. Stone and deepslate variants of the same ore count as one vein.
  • Tree Feller (axe) — fell a whole tree with a single log, and the orphaned leaves crumble in seconds instead of lingering for minutes.
  • Magnet (chestplate, 3 levels) — dropped items fly to you from 5, 8 or 11 blocks away. Items you just threw out are left alone.
  • Swift Climb (boots) — ladders and vines carry you up and down four times as fast, which turns a deep mineshaft ladder into a short trip. The factor is configurable.
  • Fullbright (helmet) — the world is lit as if brightness were turned far past the vanilla limit, for as long as the helmet is worn. Your options file is never touched.
  • Break Protection (tools and weapons) — durability never drops below one point. The item survives, but cannot be used until it is repaired, so a good pickaxe is never lost by accident.

Chain mining never spends the last durability point, so an enchanted tool will not break mid-vein. All six appear at the enchanting table, from villagers and in chest loot, at a middling level cost, and they are compatible with every vanilla enchantment.

Movement is worked out on each player's own client, so Swift Climb — like Fullbright — takes effect for players who have the mod installed. Everything else works from the server alone.

  • Required on both the server and every client

Installation

Put the mod jar and Fabric API into the mods folder. On a server, install both there as well.

Configuration

Options live in config/coobenchants.json, created on first launch:

The enchantment level costs, rarity and item lists are data-driven JSON inside the jar and can be overridden by a world datapack without rebuilding the mod.
