🔐 Update Permission

The updater requires the player to make an explicit choice regarding automatic Beta updates.

When the updater is used for the first time, the player is asked whether Beta versions may be automatically installed.

If NO is selected:

The updater will automatically update Release versions only.

If YES is selected:

The updater asks how Beta updates should be handled.

The player can choose between:

The selected preference is saved and will remain active until the updater is removed or disabled.

🧪 Beta Updates

Beta versions are treated separately from Release versions.

A Beta version is never installed automatically without the player's permission.

If automatic Beta updates are enabled, the updater will always look for the latest available Beta version for Minecraft 1.12.2.

If a newer permitted Beta version is found:

1. The currently installed shader version is removed.

2. The new Beta version is downloaded.

3. The new Beta version is installed.

4. The updater continues using the selected Beta update channel.

Alpha versions

Alpha versions are completely excluded from automatic updates.

Even if an Alpha version has a higher version number than the currently installed version, the updater will not automatically install it.

🔄 Automatic Update Process

When Minecraft Forge 1.12.2 starts, the updater checks Modrinth for compatible shader versions.

The updater evaluates:

• Minecraft version

• Release channel

• Beta channel, if enabled

• Version number

• Currently installed shader version

Only versions permitted by the player's selected update settings are considered.

If a newer permitted version is available, the updater downloads and installs it automatically.

Older versions are never installed as updates.

For example:

Installed: 0.4

Available:

• Release 0.3 → ❌ Ignore

• Release 0.4 → ❌ Ignore

• Release 0.5 → ✅ Update

• Beta 0.6 with Beta disabled → ❌ Ignore

• Beta 0.6 with Beta enabled → ✅ Update

• Alpha 0.7 → ❌ Always ignore

📦 Minecraft Version

The updater is specifically designed for:

Minecraft Forge 1.12.2

Only shader versions marked as compatible with Minecraft 1.12.2 are considered.

Versions for other Minecraft versions are ignored.
