Description

Just Dandy: A little serotonin, as a treat. [Forge 1.16.5] [NOW UNSUPPORTED]

This mod page is now outdated. Just Dandy for 1.19.2 can be found here.

"A pappus for the mass of us"

Features

By default, patches of fluffy dandelions may spawn in plains and forest biomes (with the configurable option to spawn in taiga biomes as well).

They spawn gently bobbing seed particles when not in rain. In certain biomes, the rate at which particles spawn may be increased (configurable).

Walking through fluffy dandelions may cause an additional flurry of seeds. This also works for other mobs, as well as projectiles/item entities.

Fluffy dandelions can alternatively be obtained by bone meal-ing normal dandelions.

This mod is mostly intended as practice for mixins and rudimentary 1.16.5 worldgen. That said, if you have any ideas/feedback to attach to the concept, please let me know! :)

Config

You can configure whether fluffy dandies spawn in taiga, forest, and plains type biomes.

In addition, you can select the biomes for which they will not spawn (even if the type they correspond to is configured to generate 'em).

- For example, by default fluffy dandies generate in plains type biomes, but are blacklisted from generating in biomes with the name ":minecraft:snowy_plains:".

You also can control the biomes within which fluffy dandies will act particularly, erm, fluffily.

Fun fact: dandies are related to sunflowers. Their seeds could theoretically be pressed for oil in a similar fashion, but it's hundreds of times less efficient. :P Feel free to share any dandelion trivia you can find, please and thank!

Overview

This mod adds fluffy dandelions to plains, oak forests, and meadows by default. Fluffy dandelions spawn gently bobbing seed particles when not in rain. Any entities moving through fluffy dandelions (projectiles, players, mobs) spawn greater concentrations of particles.

Using bone meal on a dandelion will cause it to grow into its fluffy variant. Pollinated bees can also turn dandelions fluffy, at the same rate as other pollinated crops.

Fluffy dandelions are somewhat delicate, so they can only be collected using shears (dropping a normal dandelion otherwise). 1.21+: Fluffy dandelions do not drop normal dandelions anymore, instead dropping nothing if broken without shears.

Config

You can alter the following:

  • A multiplier for general dandelion particle density (default: 1.0)
  • A multiplier for dandelion particle lifespan (default: 1.0)

Biome Tag

Using a datapack, players can alter one of two tags which indicate the biomes in which the two types of fluffy dandelion patches spawn:

  • just_dandy:has_fluffy_dandelion includes plains and forests. Normal-sized patches.
  • just_dandy:has_frequent_fluffy_dandelion includes meadows, and has patches of fluffy dandelions spawn with greater frequency and in greater density.
  • just_dandy:has_thick_dandelion has very frequent dandelion patches, and exclusively includes Dandelion Fields from the mod World of Wonder.

Requires Blueprint. Includes optional compatibility with many different mods; see the Versions tab and the Changelog for more information.

Feel free to direct any suggestions towards the issue tracker!

Credit to GLaDOS Edition for the block texture, and Booleven for his commendable efforts in porting my 1.16.5 mess to 1.19.2!
