📦 Inventory Controller

The Ultimate "Keep Inventory" Overhaul

🌟 Why Inventory Controller?

Tired of the binary choice between losing everything or keeping it all when you die? Inventory Controller bridges the gap by giving you complete, granular control over death penalties. Instead of dropping your entire inventory into lava, you can set rules to lose a percentage of your item's durability, lose a fraction of your stacked items, or safely bottle your dropped XP.

With an intuitive, fully-featured in-game graphical interface, you can customize exactly what stays with you, what drops, and how much it degrades. It completely revolutionizes the survival experience, making deaths punishing but fair!

📖 Quick Start Tutorial

  1. Open the Menu: Press the <kbd style="background: #444; padding: 2px 6px; border-radius: 4px; color: #fff;">I</kbd> key (default) or use the buttons added to your Title/Pause screens.
  2. Tweak Your Penalty Scales: Navigate to the "Inventory Controller" tab. Here, you can configure minimum and maximum penalty percentages for Tools, Weapons, Armor, Food, and more.
  3. Set up Blacklists & Whitelists: Want to always keep your trusty Pickaxe? Add it to the Item Blacklist! You can blacklist items by ID, Tag, or even custom Name Tags.
  4. Survive & Die: When you die, your items will be processed according to your rules. Kept items will lose a bit of durability or stack size (if configured), and dropped items will be safely placed in an emergency Death Chest! (Note: You have to download Pageable Chests)

✨ Core Features

⚖️ Granular Penalty System

  • Dynamic Durability & Stack Loss: Kept items can be configured to lose a randomized percentage of durability (for tools/armor) or count (for stackable items).
  • Category Specific: Set unique penalty ranges (Min/Max) independently for Tools, Weapons, Armor, Food, and "Other" items.
  • Container Support: The mod dives into items with inventories (like Backpacks or Shulker Boxes) and processes their internal items with unique "Container Inventories" rules!

🛡️ Smart Filtering & Protection

  • Whitelist & Blacklist: Filter by precise Item IDs, Forge Tags, or even Custom Item Names (perfect for protecting specially named lore items).
  • Rarity Protection: Automatically protect rare items! You can set thresholds (e.g., Epic or Rare items) to completely bypass drops or penalties.
  • Zero-Durability Check: Items that would break from a death penalty can be configured to drop entirely, or safely remain in your inventory at 5 durability.

☠️ Context-Aware Death Penalties

  • Instant Death Multiplier: Did a Creeper one-shot you from 95% health? The mod recognizes this and applies a configurable multiplier to your penalties.
  • Quick Death Multiplier: Died rapidly over a few seconds? The mod applies a "Quick Death" modifier to your item loss!

🧪 XP Preservation

  • Instead of vanilla XP orbs, you drop a physical "Stored Death XP" Bottle.
  • Configurable min/max percentage of your total XP is placed into this bottle.
  • The XP you didn't lose is saved in your player data and automatically restored when you respawn!

📦 Safe Death Drops

  • If you drop items, the mod searches for a safe location (searching upwards to avoid suffocating items in stone or bedrock).
  • Creates an Obsidian platform in the air or over liquids if necessary to prevent your dropped items from falling into the void or lava!

📸 Inventory Snapshots & History

  • The mod secretly saves a Snapshot of your inventory right before you die, whenever you use restore commands (History), or manually!
  • Commands (Requires OP Level 2):
    /invsnapshot list <player>
    /invsnapshot restore <player> <timestamp>
    /invsnapshot manual_save save <player>
  • Chat menus are fully clickable! You can restore a lost inventory with a single click in chat.

🔗 Mod Compatibility

  • Curios API: Fully supports Curios slots! Your rings, belts, and charms are processed and restored using the exact same penalty logic.(Optional)
  • Pageable Chests: Requires the `pageable_chests_k` mod to store massive amounts of death drops in a single chest, while you may not like this but this is for now because I dont know what to do with the dropped items.

⚠️ Important Information & Requirements

  • Library Required: You MUST install Kozhin Lib (kozhin_lib_k) for this mod to function. It will crash otherwise!
  • Per-Player Configuration: Configs are handled per-player via the client-side GUI and synced to the server upon login. This means players can customize their own Keep Inventory rules!
  • Tag Loading: If you are editing the Tag Whitelist/Blacklist in the GUI, you must be loaded into a world so Forge can fetch the active tags.
  • Admin Commands: Restoring snapshots via /invsnapshot requires OP Level 2. This is to prevent regular players from exploiting the snapshot system to dupe items.
  • Updates & Configs: Never delete your `Keep Inventory Controller` config folder manually between updates. It contains a `configsVersion` byte critical for data migration. Always make a backup before updating the mod!
