Description

Low Fire Model

Requires Cloth Config

side-by-side comparison of the mod, a low fire resource pack and vanilla behavior.

A simple fabric 1.21.11+ mod that lets you adjust the scale of the "on fire" entity model without changing the block model.
This mostly benefits from pvp where the fire obscures nametag info like health on pvp servers.
(all example images use Retextured Fire by Miwo4ka)

Why? low fire resource packs exist

Yeah You are correct. those packs do fix the issue, but also affect the regular fire block's height.
I didnt want the block height to change, and I couldn't find a way to achieve this without modifying the game.

GenAI statement: I have used LLM's to help figure out how to make this mod. mainly to find where to change the fire model in code, but this isn't a 100% GenAI mod.

  • Example (vanilla behaviour)
Example (vanilla behaviour) This is a showcase in vanilla with a minemen duel. I kind of see the opponent's health a little, but it's difficult to read with the fire in the way.
  • Example (w/ mod)
Example (w/ mod) This is a showcase of the mod in action with a minemen duel. now I can see the opponents health better!
  • Fire block example (vanilla behaviour)
Fire block example (vanilla behaviour) a side by side with myself on fire and a fire block next to me. in vanilla, The fire on my player is tall enough to cover the middle of my nametag (using Retextured Fire by Miwo4ka in this image)
  • Fire Block example (w/ resource pack)
Fire Block example (w/ resource pack) Using a low fire resource pack does fix the problem. unfortunately the fire block has shrunk in height too, which I personally don't prefer. (using Retextured Fire by Miwo4ka as an example)
  • Fire block example (w/ mod)
Fire block example (w/ mod) now I have the best of both worlds! the fire block hasn't been altered when I change the height of the entity fire effect, and I can read the nametag clearly (using Retextured Fire by Miwo4ka in this image)
  • Config screen (1.0)
Config screen (1.0) simple config GUI to adjust any axis of the fire effect. including turning the mod off (the gui requires Cloth Config to use, but the config file is always editable)
