Description

Menacing Monsters 1.4.0

Tired of boring vanilla monsters? Well Then this mod is for you! Monsters are overall faster and deadlier, and pursue you over greater distances. No more lame, easy to beat, yawn worthy monsters, these new guys will have on your toes. The goal of this mod is to make combat more challenging, and cave exploration more treacherous.

No longer are you invulnerable with just iron gear, enemies are armed / armored as well, your shield can be disabled, your armor can be cut through, enchantments and potions are now resources of survival, rather than being overkill. Those who want / enjoy a challenge, will appreciate this mod.

Requires Forge API version 28+ and Minecraft 1.14.4

Base Changes :

1) All monsters pursue players for up to double the original follow range.

2) Creepers move 40% faster; skeletons, strays and witches move 80% faster; spiders and cave spiders move 100% faster; zombies, husks, and drowned move 48% faster (74% for maniacs).

3) Skeletons (all variants), witches, and spiders (both variants) are immune to knock-back.

4) Adds 3 new zombie variants (can be drowned or husk also), and one new skeleton variant (all 4 pictured).

Monster speed, follow range, and spawning can be configured via config file (if updating from version older than 1.4.0, delete old config file first).

New Variants :

1) Butcherer : Zombie with carved pumpkin on head, and stone axe in hand.

2) Leathered Butcherer : Same as butcherer but wears leather chest and leggings, also carries zombie head in offhand.

3) Maniac : Wears leather like leathered butcherer, but has golden axe in hand instead, also wears a player's head while holding a zombie's (the implications...)

4) Skeletalantern : Skeletons that wear jack o' lanterns on heads, chain-mail chest plates, and leather leggings.

Variant Info :

1) The three new axe wielding zombie variants do much more damage due to their weapons, maniacs do an additional 4 damage on top of that. Axes have a chance of disabling shields, so keep your distance...

2) Most new variants have extra health / armor. Leathered zombies take 6 swings from an axe (above wood) to kill, while Skeletalanterns take 7.

3) All mobs are much faster, but spiders and cave spiders can now catch up to you on a full sprint! Maniacs are the fastest zombies.

4) Skeletalantern arrows are imbued with poison (4 second duration).

Spawn Odds :

1) 1 in 4 zombies will spawn as a special variant. ~17% as Butcherers, ~7% as Leathered Butcherers, and 1% as Maniacs.

2) 1 in 5 skeletons will spawn as Skeletalanterns.

Other Info / Suggestions :

If you are using this mod on a new world without armor and what not, it is advisable to avoid going into deep caves right off the bat. Look for surface / higher level deposits of iron ore, and craft yourself a full set of iron armor, shield, and weaponry. Then and only then should you venture into deeper caves.

Furthermore, this mod will go well with mods that add additional weapon / armor tiers.
