Description
Particle Rain Backport (1.12.2)
Particle Rain Backport is a faithful port of the modern "Particle Rain" mod to Minecraft 1.12.2. It completely overhaul's the game's weather system by replacing vanilla's flat, static textures with thousands of individual, physics-based particles for a truly immersive atmosphere.
📜 Credits & Original Work
This project is a backport of the original Particle Rain mod created by pigcart.
How this version differs:
Version Compatibility: Adapted and rewritten to function on Minecraft 1.12.2 (the original mod starts from 1.16+)
Backported Features: Includes the core particle systems, ripple effects, and biome-specific fog adjusted for the 1.12.2 rendering engine.
Optimization: Fine-tuned for performance to ensure stability on older modpacks
🌧️ Main Features
- True Particle Weather: Say goodbye to the vanilla rain texture. Experience individual raindrops, snowflurries, and desert sandstorm particles that react to gravity and wind.
- Dynamic Surface Interactions:
- Ripples: Rain creates dynamic ripple effects when hitting water surfaces.
- Block Streaks: Watch as water realistically streaks down the sides of buildings and glass panes.
- Steam & Smoke: Rainfall on hot blocks like Magma, Lava, or Fire produces rising steam and smoke.
- Biome-Specific Enhancements:
- Sandstorms: Intense dust particles and "tumbleweed" shrubs in desert biomes.
- Custom Fog: Biome-tuned fog colors (murky green for swamps, misty green for jungles, grey-blue for rain).
- Ground Mist: Ambient fog that lingers during and after heavy rainfall.
- Immersive Soundscape:
- Reactive Audio: Rain makes distinct sounds based on the material it hits (Stone vs. Wood).
- Musical Weather: A fun easter egg! Rain hitting Note Blocks will play random musical notes.
- Ambient Wind & Snow: Unique audio loops for heavy snow and sandstorms.
- Fully Configurable: Lightweight and highly optimized. Adjust particle density, spawn distances, and volume levels via the config file to match your hardware.
This mod is a backport of the original Particle Rain mod by pigcart, updated for 1.12.2 to bring high-fidelity weather effects to the classic modding version.
