Rick and Morty, lost in the Backrooms. Rick's Portal Gun, his gadgets and his Space Cruiser, thrown into endless liminal levels, things that watch you, and a few places you really should run from.

A fan-made parody. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Adult Swim or the creators of Rick and Morty.

Getting in

• Craft the Portal Gun: lime stained glass, an eye of ender, iron and a diamond. Right-click to shoot a portal, sneak + right-click to open its dial.
• Fall the wrong way and you might noclip out of reality into Level 0.
• Or do it properly: find three torn journal pages in chests, add Portal Fluid, and program the Backrooms into your gun.
• Rick's Field Guide explains the rest. He's not happy about it.

The Backrooms: twenty levels

• Level 0, the garage (Level 1), the offices (Level 4), the Courtyard of Windows (Level 188)
• The Harvest, where the scarecrows only move when you aren't looking
• The Sunlit Lobby, the one safe place
• The Wooden Hotel, the Scaffold Void and the Glowstone Cavern
• The Poolrooms (Level 37) and Level Fun =)
• The Infinite IKEA, where the staff don't like customers after closing
• The Dead Mall, the Endless Field and the Abandoned City
• Drop Limit: roads that run off the edge of the sky
• The Facade: one endless wall of air conditioners
• The Staircase: Escher's stairs, in the sky
• Froopyland: soft, bouncy, safe. Mostly.
• Run For Your Life: a red-lit maze, and something behind you

Red exit doors, pits and holes in the walls take you between levels. Every level has its own theme music.

Things that want you

The Watcher, Still Lifes that wear your skin, scarecrows, partygoers, the IKEA staff, and the Bacteria. A sanity meter drains in the dark; Almond Water helps.

Rick's stuff

• Portal Gun upgrades: Targeting, Blender attack mode, and the DNA Lock, which keeps the gun when you die
• Warp Gateways that link two places for good
• Rick's Space Cruiser, with flamethrowers, a disintegrator, a minigun, rockets and a portal drive
• Gadgets: the Shrink Ray, the Freeze Ray, the Time Crystal, and the x-ray Interdimensional Goggles
• Cognition Amplifier: your pet gets smart, and it talks
• Cronenberg World, and the Council of Yous, who trade

Compatibility

• Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1+
• Curios API (optional): the goggles fit the head slot, over a helmet
• Works with Sodium and Iris, shaders included

Commands (operators)

• /rickrooms goto <level>: go straight to any level
• /rickrooms gun: a fully upgraded Portal Gun with every level on its dial
