Root Companion

Root Companion is a Minecraft Forge 1.20.1 mod that turns Root, Aywen's mascot, into a useful and interactive companion for the player.

The concept is simple: the player crafts a Root item, places it in the world, and Root becomes their companion. Once spawned, Root follows its owner and changes its behavior depending on the equipment given to it.

Root Integration

Root is much more than a visual companion. It is designed to actively help the player throughout their adventure.

Root can be equipped with different tools, allowing it to automatically take on different roles:

🪓 Woodcutter - Give Root an axe and it will search for trees, cut logs, and clear leaves when they block its path.

⛏️ Miner - Give Root a pickaxe and it will search for blocks to mine and collect the resulting resources.

⚔️ Hunter - Give Root a sword and it will search for nearby animals, hunt them, and collect their drops.

💤 Companion - Without a work tool, Root remains a regular companion that follows its owner.

Root also has its own inventory, allowing it to store the resources it gathers while working.

The goal of the mod is to make Root feel like a real companion rather than a simple NPC: something that follows the player, helps with repetitive tasks, reacts to its environment, and becomes part of the player's adventure.
