Reviewing this as a standalone mod

The monsters are really well designed and the animations are stellar. And I love the early game when they start appearing for the first time.

But in the late game things begin to get silly. It seems the viral progression scales really drastically out of nowhere, and not like a World War Z type thing. I believe the default system needs some serious balancing. The later mobs are also unbalanced in attack damage.

Additionally I appreciate the elaborate config, but I get extremely confused trying to manage/navigate it without causing a crash. Earlier versions of this mod had simpler configs which I enjoyed.

Finally, performance goes insanely down when the biomes arrive.

I like the mod but would like more fine tuning rather than more content being added.

It's the reason i started playing 1.12.2 in the first place. The mod is so interesting. all of it's features are super well made and fit together great. the balance of the mod is very uhm... well, it's not the greatest. But, the mod has a HUGE config file that allows for pretty much everything to be configured. It's a really neat mod and the community is great. Pretty much every time i've played this, i've had fun

I love this mod, but only after downloading 50 more mods and spending hours editing config files. This mod is so unbalanced that the only way to get a good experience is in a professional modpack. Besides that, the aesthetics are really good.

This mod is absolutely one of the best mods to spice up your gameplay experience. The parasites are not only amazingly modeled and look grotesque in the best way, but are also relentless, and fighting them is a constant uphill struggle.

The evolution mechanic ensures that the parasites will continue to get stronger if you don’t deal with them, and the later mobs it spawns can even break blocks and summon more mobs.

They have a reputation of being damage sponges, but it can easily be tweaked in the configs, along with most other parts of the mod. If you’re considering playing with this, playing with freinds or as a later challenge in a pack is the best way imo

is fun and scary, tho in the end it can become a scandal if you are not careful. it forces you to be alert for much of the game and makes you feel like in a movie or sm ( or i dunno i felt like that XDD)

i really like the biome the mod adds to the game, and how it spreads slowly, it really gives a feeling of dread.
the mobs are awesome, and some of them if not all are super difficult to fight with, they can give you a jumpscare sometimes

The way the mod adds a ecosystem to the game that you yourself has to control and by not taking part in killing parasites to protect your land can cause some backfires later down the line is really unique and you don't see this in any other mod. You feel accomplished every time you survive a night, you get scared hearing something you never heard before. The mod unlocks your fight or flight senses from just the presences of a parasite. You have to constantly be upgrading your base as well as I personally recommend mods like tinkers construct. Everything about this mod is amazing and even though it is on 1.12.2 it really makes up for that.

It's like The Thing. But in Minecraft. If you're a fan of horror, and like having your ass handed to you by rifted endermen that teleport around the map and scare the s*** out of you, then definitely check it out. My only (minor) gripe is with the default values for mob stats. These mobs are like damage sponges. With the damage adaption mechanic, they can become immune to almost anything. You can straight up pelt them with a 30mm gau turret from NTM, and they'll just walk it off. Thankfully every single value can be edited in the absolute unit of a config file.

Welcome to the Scape and Run: Parasite Mod
logo

This mod adds hostile parasite-themed mobs to your Minecraft game for you to fight,
they can be dangerous, scary and some of them can learn from their fights to evolve.

They have no biome specific spawn, so you can find them anywhere.
The parasites don't burn in daylight and they can attack other hostile mobs.

Mob Information:

Assimilated Cow
-One of the Vanilla parasite victims, when killed you may find what was inside

Assimilated Big Spider
-Unknown origin, one of the parasite victims able to shoot web missiles.

Assimilated Human
-Living individuals controlled by a parasite who hunt along the creatures they once fought. .

Assimilated Sheep
-One of the Vanilla parasite victims, when killed you may find what was inside.

Assimilated Wolf
-One of the Vanilla parasite victims, when killed you may find what was inside.

Buglin
-Insect-like creatures, these can be found inside infected victims.

Rupter
-Insect-like creatures, these can infect cows, sheeps and wolfs and make them fight for their cause.

Heavy Carrier
A big, slow creature with a large health bar. It may explode spontaneously to release additional minions which are immune to poison.

Flying Carrier
A small, flying creature. It may explode spontaneously to release additional minions which are immune to poison.

Vigilante
-These are built for territory defense purposes so you will only find them on infected terrain

The Longarms Branch

The Reeker Branch
-Fast and able to poison its victims, these are known for their mobility and high damage

The Summoner Branch
-These can summon reinforcements so it is a good idea to take them out first

The Yelloweye Branch
-Flying creatures able to shoot poison missiles.

The Manducater Branch
-These like to go invisible so be quiet, you may hear them

The Bolster Branch
-Known for their ability to buff nearby parasites, the Bolsters are the supporters of the faction

Ancient Dreadnaut
-A massive flying parasite

Ancient Overlord
-A massive walking parasite

Systems:

Reinforcement System:

When a parasite is killed, there is a chance for it to call reinforcements, this means that a Beckon will spawn nearby and will help in the fight. The Beckon has different stages and that will tell how many and which parasites it will spawn. You can change the Beckon mob spawning in the configuration file

The beckons also have the ability to infest nearby blocks, infested blocks can damage all mobs other than the parasite faction, you can change values like "maximum block hardness to infest block", "light level to spread to other block" and more in the configuration file.

Merge System:

The infected have the ability to learn from their battles and if the conditions are met, they will start to melt until they're some Moving Flesh.
If 2 of these things meet, they will fuse together and grow, if they get big enough they will spawn a primitive mob (with half his total health) (Infected Dorpa is the only one that will not melt).

Conditions for the infected to turn into Moving Flesh:

-The first condition: the infected needs to reach the primitive killcount..
-The second condition: it needs to be next to 3 more infected, regardless of their killcount/specie OR it needs to be next to a Moving Flesh.
If the infected with the killcount is next to atleast 3 more infected, the four of them will start to melt BUT if it is next to a Moving flesh, only it will start to melt.

This mod adds hostile parasite-themed mobs to your Minecraft game for you to fight, they can be dangerous, scary and some of them can learn from their fights to evolve.

They have no biome specific spawn, so you can find them anywhere. The parasites don't burn in daylight and they can attack other hostile mobs (optional).

MOBS:

Assimilated Cow -One of the Vanilla parasite victims, when killed you may find what was inside

Assimilated Big Spider -Unknown origin, one of the parasite victims able to shoot web missiles.

Assimilated Human -Living individuals controlled by a parasite who hunt along the creatures they once fought. .

Assimilated Sheep -One of the Vanilla parasite victims, when killed you may find what was inside.

Assimilated Wolf -One of the Vanilla parasite victims, when killed you may find what was inside.

Buglin -Insect-like creatures, these can be found inside infected victims.

Rupter -Insect-like creatures, these can infect cows, sheeps and wolfs and make them fight for their cause.

Heavy Carrier A big, slow creature with a large health bar. It may explode spontaneously to release additional minions which are immune to poison.

Flying Carrier A small, flying creature. It may explode spontaneously to release additional minions which are immune to poison.

Vigilante -These are built for territory defense purposes so you will only find them on infected terrain

The Longarms Branch

The Reeker Branch -Fast and able to poison its victims, these are known for their mobility and high damage

The Summoner Branch -These can summon reinforcements so it is a good idea to take them out first

The Yelloweye Branch -Flying creatures able to shoot poison missiles.

The Manducater Branch -These like to go invisible so be quiet, you may hear them

The Bolster Branch -Known for their ability to buff nearby parasites, the Bolsters are the supporters of the faction
