Sleep Vote
Multiplayer sleeping, without the waiting.
By LuminaCherry
About Sleep Vote
We've all been there. Everyone wants to skip the night, but there's always that one player who's either busy doing something else or completely AFK.
Sleep Vote fixes that without making sleeping unnecessarily complicated. It adds configurable sleep voting, automatic AFK detection, and a few small quality-of-life features to make multiplayer sleeping less annoying.
Everything stays close to vanilla, and most of the behavior can be adjusted to fit your server.
Sleep Voting
Instead of requiring everyone to get into bed, you can decide what percentage of players needs to sleep before the night gets skipped.
- Custom Sleep Percentage - Set how many eligible players need to sleep.
- AFK Exclusion - Players who are AFK can be left out of the calculation.
- Spectator Exclusion - Spectators can also be ignored.
- Vanilla Compatibility - Uses Minecraft's existing sleep-percentage gamerule where supported.
- Sleep Progress - See how many players are sleeping and how many AFK players are being ignored.
Automatic AFK Detection
Sleep Vote keeps track of player activity automatically. By default, a player is considered AFK after 3 minutes of inactivity, although you can change this in the configuration.
It recognizes normal gameplay activity, including:
- Moving and looking around
- Breaking, placing, and interacting with blocks
- Using items and fighting entities
- Opening and interacting with inventories
- Sending chat messages and using commands
Once an AFK player starts doing something again, they're automatically counted as active.
You can also enable small title notifications and subtle sounds when someone goes AFK or comes back. These are completely optional.
Configuration
Different servers have different preferences, so Sleep Vote doesn't force everyone to use the same settings.
You can adjust the required sleeping percentage, AFK timeout, player exclusions, and optional notifications.
The default settings are intended to work well for most servers without needing much adjustment.
Compatibility
Forge - Minecraft 1.12 through 1.20.1
Fabric & NeoForge - Minecraft 1.21.1 through 26.3, where available
Sleep Vote is designed to run server-side, including on dedicated servers. It doesn't add any new items, blocks, GUIs, or commands.
Check the Files tab for the exact supported versions and loaders.
