Instead of treating every player and every food the same, this addon considers what your Origin can actually eat, which foods are appropriate to crave, and which ones your Origin naturally prefers. Whether you're a seafood-loving Siren, a sweets-craving Pixie, or a creature with a strictly carnivorous diet, your cravings become a meaningful part of your character!

🍽️ Cravings That Understand Your Origin

Your Origin should influence what you're hungry for! Origins Berry Compat evaluates three important factors when selecting cravings: dietary compatibility, craving eligibility, and Origin-specific food preferences.

Dietary Compatibility: Can your Origin actually consume this food?
Craving Eligibility: Is the food a suitable finished dish, drink, or specialty item rather than an inappropriate ingredient?
Food Preference: How strongly does your Origin favor this food compared with other eligible options?

These rules work together to create more personal cravings without ignoring dietary restrictions or the original mechanics of your chosen Origin. A preferred food is more likely to appear, but preferences do not automatically make every other eligible food impossible.

Different Origins bring their own culinary personalities! Compatibility includes specialized preferences and restrictions for supported Origins, including those introduced by Medieval Origins Revival.

🧜 Aquatic Origins: Favor fish, seafood, and appropriate ocean-inspired dishes.
🧁 Pixies & Fae: Enjoy increased preferences for candies, sweets, desserts, and Glow Berries.
🌶️ Incubi: Favor spicy foods and compatible meat-based meals.
🍵 Wood Elves: Prefer suitable finished teas and herbal beverages.
✨ Goblins: Have special preferences and restrictions involving golden foods.
🐈 Alfiq: Receive a special exception allowing raw salmon cravings.

Cravings should be surprising and enjoyable, not an endless rotation of the same handful of foods! Origins Berry Compat uses category-aware randomized selection to improve variety while preserving individual food weights and Origin preferences.

Instead of allowing categories with enormous numbers of foods to dominate every selection, the addon gives smaller eligible food categories a fairer opportunity to appear. A persistent history of recently selected categories also applies repetition penalties, helping prevent the same types of foods from appearing too frequently across play sessions.

The result is a more balanced mix of meals, drinks, desserts, and specialty foods without making cravings completely predictable. Category diversity works alongside the existing dietary, eligibility, and preference systems rather than replacing them.

⏰ Intelligent 30-Day Craving Cooldowns

Say goodbye to receiving the same cravings over and over! Recently assigned foods enter a 30 Minecraft-day cooldown, counted using each player's online time.

The cooldown starts when a craving is assigned, not when it is completed. It advances only while that player is online, persists across sessions, and applies to new-day craving generation, rerolls, and refreshes. Logging out or leaving a craving unfinished cannot be used to bypass the cooldown rules.

Both individual foods and their configured shared food families participate in cooldown tracking. This encourages players to explore more of their available food options instead of repeatedly receiving familiar dishes.

🍪 Shared Food-Family Cooldowns

Different flavors of the same dish shouldn't always count as completely different cravings! Origins Berry Compat includes curated shared cooldown families that recognize closely related foods.

Sweet Treats: Cookies, cupcakes, cake slices, cheesecake slices, dessert pies, and related sweets.
Prepared Meals: Pancakes, soups, stews, salads, sandwiches, and dumplings.
Beverages: Related teas, wines, and brewery drinks.
Specialty Foods: Selected sushi varieties, rolls, and other closely related dishes.

When a food belongs to a shared family, its related varieties can share cooldown restrictions rather than immediately appearing as separate cravings. The addon also prevents inappropriate duplicate craving categories within a selection, such as multiple drinks being assigned together.

🥗 Thoughtful Dietary Compatibility

One of the most important features of Origins Berry Compat is preventing cravings for foods an Origin cannot actually eat. Rather than assuming every food is universally edible, the addon considers Origin-specific restrictions and supported modded food ingredients.

Carnivorous Origins can receive appropriate meat and seafood cravings, including supported modded fish and prepared dishes. Suitable sandwiches and mixed meals are evaluated with their ingredients in mind, helping ensure they contain meat the Origin can consume. Vegetarian and vegan Origins avoid foods that conflict with their diets, and special Origin exceptions are respected.

Craving eligibility is also handled when players change Origins or reroll or refresh their cravings, reducing the chance of incompatible selections. The goal is simple: your cravings should respect your Origin, not work against it!

Raw ingredients, unfinished preparations, inappropriate condiments, whole cakes, and other unsuitable items are generally excluded from normal cravings unless a deliberate exception applies. Origins Berry Compat is built around server-authoritative gameplay. It supports dedicated multiplayer servers and singleplayer worlds without requiring a separate custom interface or complicated setup.

For multiplayer, the addon can be installed server-side without requiring every connecting player to install it separately. Food classifications, preference weighting, and craving rules are managed by the server while the existing Origins and Berry Edition systems continue providing the gameplay experience.
