# TACZ Flashlight Bridge

> ### 💡 Powered by Flashier Flashlights by **keerdm**
> Every beam this mod draws is **keerdm's** work. The cone, the soft falloff, the real shadows, the way the light actually feels in a dark cave — all of that comes from *Flashier Flashlights*. This bridge only tells it where your gun is pointing. **Please go download, follow and support keerdm's mod — without it, this mod does nothing.**

Mount a flashlight on your TACZ gun and it lights up the world with the **real Flashier Flashlights beam** — the same cone, range, shadows and brightness as the handheld flashlight.

This is a small bridge mod. It does **not** modify, patch or include the files of any other mod; it only hooks into them at runtime.

## Features

- **Real beam from your gun.** When a flashlight attachment is mounted on the TACZ gun in your main hand and switched on, Flashier Flashlights renders its flashlight beam exactly as if you were holding a flashlight.
- **Laser-slot lights** follow the TaCZ: Additions laser toggle (default key `K`). If the laser is switched off, the light is off too.
- **Grip-slot lights** (flashlight foregrips) get their own toggle key — default **`H`**, changeable in *Options → Controls → Flashlight Bridge*. A click sound and an action-bar message confirm the switch.
- **Stacking brightness.** A grip light and a laser-slot light switched on together shine brighter (1 light = 1.0×, 2 lights = 2.5×).
- **Multiplayer.** Other players' gun lights are rendered too, starting in front of them at gun height (also used for your own third-person view).
- **Leaning support.** Works with leaning mods that tilt the camera, such as *Leaning or Not* and *DoxLean*. When you lean, the beam and the light it casts stay lined up with your tilted view instead of drifting off to the side.
- Beam cone, range and shadows use your Flashier Flashlights config.
- **Optional battery power** (off by default). Turn on `requireBattery` in `config/gunlight_bridge-common.toml` and your gun parts run on a **Flashier Flashlights battery** worn in a Curios slot (default: **charm**, one battery per slot). Each powered part — a switched-on laser-slot attachment, a switched-on grip flashlight, and a battery-powered sight (red dot, holographic or reflex) — uses 1 FE every 5 seconds (both configurable). When the battery is empty, the **laser beam, the flashlight and the scope/sight reticle switch off**, for you and for everyone who sees you, with keerdm's battery-dead sound. Trying to switch a light on while the battery is empty shows a red **"No power - put a battery in your charm slot."** warning. Only battery-powered sights lose their reticle; magnified scopes with an etched reticle (ACOG, Elcan, LPVO...) keep working and use no energy. The list of battery-powered sights is in the config. Every attachment that needs a battery shows **"Requires a battery to work"** in its tooltip. Needs Curios and this mod on the server.

## Requirements

- Minecraft **1.20.1**, Forge **47+**
- **Timeless and Classics Zero (TACZ)** 1.1.x
- **Flashier Flashlights** 1.2.0+
- Optional: **TaCZ: Additions** (laser on/off key and click sound)
- Optional: **Curios API** (battery power option)

Install it on every client. Also install it on the server if you want the grip-light switch (H) to be seen by other players; without it the mod still works and other players see your laser-slot lights and grip lights that are on.

## Known limitations

- Only the gun in your **main hand** counts.
- Battery power: a reticle that is painted into the lens texture itself (instead of a separate reticle part in the model) cannot be switched off.
- If the server does not have this mod, the grip-light switch is only local and starts **on** every time you launch the game. With the mod on the server, the switch is saved on each gun.

## Special thanks to keerdm

This mod exists because **keerdm** made **Flashier Flashlights** — honestly the best-looking flashlight in Forge 1.20.1. Real shadow-casting beams, configurable cone and range, and a light that makes night and cave exploration feel completely different. Once I had seen it, I wanted that exact light on my guns, and the only right way to do that was to build on keerdm's work instead of copying it.

- All of the beam rendering, shadows and brightness in this mod are keerdm's.
- This bridge does not include, edit or redistribute any part of Flashier Flashlights. You download it from keerdm's own page, so keerdm gets the credit and the downloads.
- If you enjoy the light from your gun, **please give Flashier Flashlights a download and a follow**, and check out keerdm's other projects such as *Keerdm Zombie Apocalypse Essentials (TACZ)*.

Thank you, keerdm. 🔦
