Ascension

Ascension is a content-rich addon for Tensura that bolts a full Unique → Ultimate awakening system onto the base mod, layers in ten custom race lines with their own evolution paths, and adds a roster of new skills, dimensions, blocks, items, and cross-mod balance integrations designed to fit Tensura's tone without stepping on its mechanics.

Formerly known as Simply Tensura Additions. Existing worlds auto-migrate via the registry alias layer — placed blocks, inventory items, and applied effects all carry over.


The Ultimate Awakening System

The headline feature. After mastering an Ascension Unique, satisfying universal prerequisites, and gathering tribute, you can ritualize at the Awakening Altar to evolve a Unique into a permanent Ultimate. Each ritual is a 10-second cinematic with player levitation, orbiting energy bullets, layered audio buildup, and an apex-flash grant.

 

Universal prerequisites: 5,000,000 Max EP · True Demon Lord OR True Hero · mastered prerequisite Unique · 2-hour per-player cooldown · the multiblock altar built. Server admins can disable the entire system with /gamerule doAscensionUltimate false.

Witnesses share in the awakening: any other player or Tensura-named mob within 16 blocks gains 2 % of the awakener's Max EP, granted from nothing. The awakener gets a permanent +25 % Max EP self-reward.


Custom Races

Ten new race lines, each with full Tensura-style evolution chains, intrinsic skills, learnable resistances, and configurable per-tier stats:

  • Frog → Giant Frog → Poison Toad → Swamp Sovereign → Bog Ancient / Venom Lord → Frog Monarch

  • Bloodfiend → Kindred → Blood Noble → Elder → Progenitor
  • Whisper Djinn (10-tier branching evolution: Trickster → Phantom → Royal → Wishbound → Primordial → Ascended → Sovereign → Infinite → Omniversal)
  • Cursed Mariner → Cursed Dreadnaught → Phantom Corsair → Davy Jones
  • Ender Dragonewt → Void → Abyssal → Chaos Dragon (retains creative flight through every evolution)
  • Corrupted Dragonkin → Corrupted Dragon → Cursed Dragon → Demonic Dragon → Demon Dragon God
  • Gazer → Spectator Gazer → Mindwitness

The Hyperbolic Chamber

A custom training dimension with its own sky, fog, and pacing. Step through a Hyperbolic Portal to enter; an EP multiplier is applied to all kills inside, scaled by configurable rate. Bring your grind somewhere quiet.


Cross-Mod Balance Integration

Ascension ships with a JSON-driven mob stat system (config/tensura/ascension-mobs.json) that auto-stamps EP, Tensura skills, and resistances onto bosses from other mods if they're installed. Out of the box:

  • L_Ender's Cataclysm — every boss + minion roster (Ender Guardian, Ignis, Leviathan, Scylla, Harbinger, Maledictus, etc.)
  • Twilight Forest — full progression bosses + elites + basics (Naga, Lich, Hydra, Ur-Ghast, Snow Queen, Alpha Yeti, etc.)
  • Mowzie's Mobs — bosses + elite roster (Wroughtnaut, Frostmaw, Umvuthi, Sculptor, Naga)
  • Block Factory's Bosses — Underworld Knight, Yeti, Infernal Dragon, Sandworm + summons
  • The Aether — Valkyrie Queen, Sun Spirit

100 mob entries total. Entries from uninstalled mods are skipped silently — the config file works as a single cross-modpack template.

Bosses with ≥ 200,000 Max EP also drop Soul Echoes when slain, fueling the Ultimate Awakening loop.


Compatibility

  • Iron's Spellbooks — runtime-detected. Iron's Spellbook items count as catalysts where appropriate, dragon items integrate with Dragon Slayer's tag system.
  • Ice and Fire — dragon entities and dragon flesh/blood/heart items recognized natively by Dragon Slayer's gates and the Slayer of Dragons' tribute.
  • Cataclysm / Twilight Forest / Mowzie's / Block Factory's Bosses / Aether — see Cross-Mod Balance above.

Configurability

Everything is tunable. Three TOML configs and one JSON, all under config/tensura/:

  • ascension-common.toml — top-level toggles, awakening cooldown, Hyperbolic Chamber multiplier.
  • ascension-skills.toml — every skill's enabled state, cooldowns, MP costs, mastery thresholds, mode-specific values.
  • ascension-races.toml — per-race HP, Spiritual HP, movement speed, attack damage, starting EP range, evolution EP cost.
  • ascension-mobs.json — cross-mod boss stat overrides.

Defaults are hand-tuned, but every value is overridable.

Skills

Angel Wings (Extra) Manifests ethereal wings. Unmastered: grants 60s of gliding on a 70s cooldown. Mastered: toggle on/off for permanent flight.

Sharpened Claws (Intrinsic) Toggleable claws dealing 10 bonus unarmed damage, rising to 15 when mastered.

Great Mage (Unique) Pinnacle magic mastery skill with 4 modes: conjure magic tomes/essences, analyze and steal skills from targets, and create enchantments. Passively boosts ability learning speed by 19%.

Magic Scribe (Extra — requires Iron's Spellbooks) Inscribes a random spell scroll from the ether. Unmastered: level 1 scrolls, 30s cooldown. Mastered: random level scrolls, 10s cooldown.

Iron's Spellbooks Compatibility (optional)

When Iron's Spellbooks is installed:

Mana scaling — Tensura's Magic Cost Multiplier attribute scales IS spell mana costs, making the two mana systems co-exist Race attribute bonuses — Every Tensura race grants passive IS bonuses (max mana, mana regen, spell power, school affinities) that scale linearly from 1× at the starter stage up to 10× at the final evolution, rewarding progression through every race lin
