About

Description

TFC Eratosthenes

In 240 B.C., Greek scholar Eratosthenes calculated the Earth’s circumference to be roughly 25,000 miles, providing early proof of its spherical shape. With modern technology and the amazing world generation in TerraFirmaCraft we are able to recreate this in Minecraft.

Features

  • You can now sail around the world!
  • Modifies TerraFirmaCraft world generation to be shaped to fit the Craster Parabolic map projection.
  • Preventing islands hotspot volcanoes from spawning outside the "world".
  • When crossing the 180° meridian westwards or eastwards you(and your boat or horse) will be teleported to the corresponding coordinates on the other side.
  • Special handling around the poles to prevent glitches.
  • Support for TFC Real world and the Equal Earth projection.
  • Support for aleki's Nifty Ships and Firma: Civilization (only 1.20.1).

Tips

  • If you use Distant Horizons together with this mod you can set the "Earth Curve Ratio" to 160.
    • This value is for the default Temperature Scale of 20km. You will find this setting under world generation.
      • If you double the Temperature Scale you can half this value, and the other way around.

Q & A

  • Question: Is this safe to add to an existing world?
Answer: It should be safe as long as you have not explored near the "edge of the world", There might be some weirdness if these chunks already exists.
  • Question: Do I need TerraFirmaCraft(TFC) to use this mod?
Answer: Yes, it fetches data about world size from TFC and modifies TFC's world generation. It uses the temperature scale value.
  • Question: Do I need this on both the server and client? Answer: It's required on the server, and optional on the client. Only needed on the client if you want the overlay of current coordinates.
