I played this mod in many different versions, ranging from 1.6.4 in Attack of the B-Team to multiple different modpacks in 1.7.10 and 1.12.2.

With the amount of content added by the mod, it could feel a bit overwhelming for some players, but the books help with that very much. Since every modpack can make tweaks and changes to the base mod, the possibilities are endless.

Even though, the mod sometimes feels repetetive, meaning that you start by creating vanilla tools (or basic tinkers tools if forced by the modpack) and then continue with the next higher tier of tinkers tools, skipping basically everything after iron until you're able to mine cobalt and ardite in order to create manyullyn. Once reached, there is no real reason to go any further as you reached the top. Using mending moss, your tools don't even need to be repaired and therefore last forever.

There are some modpacks who integrate this mod very well, so that you have to use it in order to progess (like Regrowth for example), but for most packs the previous points are why I leave my smeltery untouched after the first few hours of playtime.
