Tornado7

Tornado7 adds a full atmospheric simulation to your world — real thermodynamics, storms, squall lines, tornadoes, and every instrument a storm chaser would actually carry — rendered with volumetric shader clouds that still run on weak hardware. Vanilla weather is replaced entirely: the sky now decides on its own when it wants to kill you.

Core mechanics

Three simulation modes (Arcade / Simplified / Excessive Realism) — from "any cumulonimbus can drop a tornado" arcade chaos up to a real mesoscale physics engine: per-region CAPE, CIN, LFC, a convective cap that has to break before storms fire, a hodograph-driven storm mode (pulse / multicell / squall line / supercell), and storms that consume their own atmosphere's moisture and leave a cold pool behind.

Real storm anatomy — supercells with a tilted rotating updraft, anvil, wall cloud, flanking line and inflow band; 21 tornado funnel shapes across EF0–EF6 (rope, wedge, cone, multi-vortex, and more) that behave differently by intensity.

The full 10-genus cloud catalogue, a day/night sky schedule, hail, lightning, ground debris and outflow, rain fog, and dawn fog — all volumetric, all shader-rendered.

The Atmosphere Sandbox — mark a region and drop a live miniature atmosphere in a box: dial temperature, dew point, stability and shear and watch it cycle through 9 sky regimes (clear, cumulus, stratus, multicell, supercell...) on an accelerated clock. Place warm/cold front blocks to build convergence and trigger a squall line or a funnel on demand.

A full meteorology kit — a laptop with 4 real radar products (REFL / VEL / CC / DOW), a weather balloon with a real sounding, a thermometer, a hygrometer, an FPV drone, deployable TOTO/Vortex2-style probes, and a radio that broadcasts watches/warnings.

9 ready-made interceptor vehicles (TIV1, TIV2, Titus, Dominator 1, Dominator 3, Scout, Tornado Wrangler, TA-1) plus the DOW6 mobile X-band radar truck, all with a real single-track driving model (grip, weight transfer, slip angles).

Build your own interceptor — any structure with a main seat and 4+ wheels becomes a drivable contraption; mass, armor, spikes and hydraulics are measured off your actual build.

Full survival support — every item and block is craftable, priced by tier.

Performance

The volumetric shader clouds automatically detect your GPU and scale themselves down — integrated graphics and old low-power chips get a lighter preset automatically on first launch, and if your GPU can't compile the shader at all, the mod silently falls back to a lightweight non-shader renderer instead of crashing. Five sharpness levels plus adaptive quality (which temporarily drops detail when FPS dips) mean this runs on very old and very weak PCs, not just gaming rigs.

Compatibility

Soft/optional — none of these are required, and the mod works identically without them:

Create: Aeronautics (Sable physics) — the tornado's wind field pushes physical builds, spins them, and can strip wooden ones apart; steel/stone builds mostly just shake

Vivecraft VR — auto-detected stereo rendering, per-eye cloud rendering, no motion-sickness camera shake

Keybinds

All key bindings are rebindable in Options → Controls.

E — Aim at a vehicle to get in

Q — Deploy / anchor (built-in vehicles and your own builds)

R — Scan with a probe (while deployed) / switch seats in the DOW6

L / H — Headlights

H (default) — Interceptor hydraulics

V (default) — Interceptor spikes

Shift — Get out

C (radar open) — Tune the laptop to the nearest DOW6

D (radar open) — Open the DOW6 console

F (radar open) — Centre the scope on the truck

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 (radar open) — REFL / VEL / CC / DOW

Commands

Base command: /t7m

Storms

/t7m spawn tornado <ef0-ef6/efm/dust_devil> — spawn a tornado

/t7m spawn tornado <ef> <shape> — spawn it already fully formed in a specific shape

/t7m spawn supercell — spawn a supercell that may drop its own tornado

/t7m spawn dust_devil — spawn a fair-weather dust whirl

/t7m summon spawn tornado <width> <windspeed> — build one to exact numbers

/t7m stop all or /t7m stop nearest — dissipate tornadoes

/t7m aimtoplayer, /t7m list

/t7m playertornado <ef> — become the tornado yourself

Sky & atmosphere

/t7m cloud <genus> or /t7m cloud clear — force a cloud type onto the sky

/t7m atmos temp|dewpoint|stability|shear <value> — dial the atmosphere manually

/t7m atmos show or /t7m atmos reset

/t7m weather — full sounding (CAPE/CIN/LFC/shear/SRH/storm mode) for where you're standing

/t7m sim create|show|remove|clear|dial|scale|accel — run a mini-atmosphere from the console

/t7m radio watch|rotation|warning|allclear — test radio broadcasts

/t7m perf — server performance/load guard readout

Fast tornado shapes: /t7m spawn tornado <ef> <shape> skips the formation stage. Tab-complete lists all shapes.
Weak tier: wire rope needle landspout

Mid tier: cone v_shaped truncated_cone straight_sided cylinder concave convex cigar hourglass

Violent tier: wedge bowl_shaped flared_base bulb sheathed barrel multi_vortex
