About

Description

Trading on a server without a trade system means dropping your stuff on the ground and hoping. This mod puts a table in between: both sides see what the other is offering, they talk, they change the offer, and they accept.

With the server plugin installed, the server does the swap itself: items and money cross together or nothing crosses. Without the plugin the mod still lets you negotiate, but it cannot move a single item, and it tells you that when you join instead of letting you find out at the end.

How to use it

Shift + right-click on another player. If that person already invited you, the same gesture accepts: both of you do the same thing and the window opens without anyone typing.

Inside, items work like any inventory: left-click grabs a stack, right-click grabs half, shift-click sends the whole stack. Nothing to learn that you don't already know from a chest.

What makes it worth it

An accept is bound to what you saw. It doesn't mean "I accept whatever is there now", it means "I accept exactly this". If the other side touches the offer an instant before closing, both accepts drop and you have to accept again. The classic scam, show you an elytra, wait for your accept, swap it for dirt, has no way in.

You see what you are actually being given. The other side's item is drawn with its wear and its enchantments spelled out. An elytra at 3% looks like an elytra at 3%.

A brake before you accept. When the table changes, ACCEPT locks for a second. Four seconds if what changed is a lot of your money, and then the banner tells you how much you are handing over and what share of everything you have that is. It comes from a mistake you cannot undo: you type 10,000,000 where you meant 1,000,000 and you accept without rereading, because you are the one who typed it.

Items are moved, not recreated. What leaves one inventory is exactly what enters the other, with its durability and everything a text description does not carry.

All or nothing. If anything fails halfway through, what was already done is undone. A half-finished trade is worse than a failed one: someone ends up without their things and without what they were getting.

You get a receipt. What you gave, what you got, with whom and when, stored by the server.

For servers

The plugin is a separate download and does the heavy lifting: it holds, verifies and moves. It also brings a minimum trade distance, an invite cooldown, an ignore list, receipts your staff can look up, and permissions. Money works through Vault, with any economy plugin.

It is not required to play. A server can install the plugin and anyone without the mod keeps playing normally: it just tells them what they are missing.

Languages

English and Spanish (neutral and rioplatense). It uses Minecraft's own translation system, so it shows up in the language you already have set.

Status

0.9.0-beta. It works end to end and the exchange is tested, money with Vault and EssentialsX included. What it does not have yet is mileage: it has never run with real latency or with more than two players at once. If you find something, tell me.

License

GPL-3.0-or-later. Use it, modify it and run it wherever you want. If you hand out a modified version, you publish its source.
