Description

- Utility Staves 2 -

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Utility Staves has finally been ported to 1.16.5! With it, some new features, bugfixes, and overall improvements to the mod have arrived! To see all of the new changes and more, please refer to the rest of this page. (This page is not accurate for 1.14.4 and below Utility Staves mods and modules).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New/Reworked Mechanics and Features:

The way that staves function has been changed slightly and given new purposes.

Wall Jumping:

Staves will now be able to jump off of walls in a horizontal direction when used next to one. The height that a staff normally gives you will be reduced by 35% and you will get thrown in the opposite direction of the wall. Jumping in a corner will throw the player in a diagonal direction opposite to the corner they were in.

Each staff has its own horizontal value that is independent from its vertical value, meaning that certain staves will be better at covering horizontal distance than others. In this case, the gold staff gives the highest horizontal distance now, rather than the highest vertical.

Reworking of Offhand Ability

Before, the offhand fall breaking ability was quite overpowered and made fall damage never a threat. Now, there is risk involved with using this mechanic of staffs. They can still negate all fall damage, but only when a certain number of blocks above the ground. Each staff has a different value for how high you can be and be able to break your fall.

If you fail to break your fall because you are too high up, your staff will go on 1 second cooldown and make a sword sweeping sound. This is called a whiff. If you whiff your landing, you will take the normal fall damage you would have taken.

3 New Enchantments:

Three new enchantments have been included in this update, they are:

Leaping: Up to leaping 5 can be gotten, and each level will increase the height of a staff's jump by 5%, up to 25%

Kickback: Up to kickback 5 can be gotten, and each level will increase the distance of a staff's wall jump by 6%, up to 30%

Softening: Up to softening 3 can be gotten, and each level increases the distance above the ground that the offhand ability will not whiff at by 1 block, up to 3 blocks.

Kickback and Leaping cannot both be on a staff.

1 New Staff and 5 New Alternate Staves:

Six new staffs are in this new update, five of them being alternatives for existing staves. These staves are: Crimson Wood Staff, Warped Wood Staff, Andestite Staff, Diorite Staff, and Granite Staff.

Additionally, a bamboo staff has been added. It has durability between stone and iron and has stats that range from wood level to iron level.

Emerald Staff and Gold Staff Reworks:

The emerald staff is now the same as iron vertically, but has a slightly faster cooldown on its jump and gets slightly further off a wall.

The gold staff no longer has the highest jump out of all the staves. Instead, its jump is now average, but has a very far horizontal jump, allowing it to go slightly further than the wall jump of even netherite.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Keep a lookout for future updates but, for now, these are the main changes to the mod.
