Description

  • Volatile Caster unifies the mana systems of Ars Nouveau, Mana and Artifice, and Iron's Spellbooks into one Peril meter: casting, spending mana, and being drained all raise it.

    Peril
    - At 60% the screen edges turn blue, at 70% the heartbeat rises, at 80% a warning sounds, and at 100% a seven-second overload begins.
    - Hold Shift+R to spend health and cool Peril.
    - During overload, casting and interactions are locked, movement slows, and holding R vents; reach 95% within seven seconds or explode.
    - Heartstop only delays the overload; it does not remove the danger.
    - The HUD percentage hides when Peril is zero.
    - Default weights are Ars 30%, MNA 10%, and Iron 50%, giving a Peril cap of about 90% of total mana with all three installed and the same ~90% normalization for a single mod.
    - Mana restoration cools at half that rate; natural decay is ×0.7 from 40–70% and ×1.5 above 70%.
    - Normal venting is 3× natural decay and costs 0.4 health every 0.5 seconds; overload venting costs 5× that health.
    - Thresholds, effects, and HUD settings are configurable.

    Chanting and continuous casting
    - Iron's long-cast spells (such as Earthquake) and continuous spells (such as Dragon Breath) now both require holding the cast key: long casts add Peril in 10-tick chunks during the cast instead of one lump sum at the end, while continuous spells channel while held. Releasing the key interrupts either one immediately.
    - When an Iron continuous spell is interrupted early, its cooldown is applied in proportion to the time channeled.
    - Mana and Artifice channeled spells keep M&A's own channel/release mechanics: hold right-click to channel and release to stop — natively and when cast from Iron spellbooks.
