Cherry Picks

Minecraft 1.21.1 · NeoForge · 500+ mods

Cherry Picks is an opinionated, experimental modpack about making things. It is an open-ended production pack set in the overworld — no main quest, no endgame item, no "finish" screen. The point is not to reach a final chest; the point is the production lines themselves.

This pack exists because too many packs end up looking the same. It is a personal statement rather than a crowd-pleaser, and it does not try to convince everyone. If it is not your taste, that is perfectly fine.

The core idea

Production lines are the gameplay. Everything in this pack is arranged so that resource production is an activity that stays with you for the whole run — not a chore to rush through on the way to creative items.

  • "Infinite resources" has a strict meaning here. It does not mean creative components. It means: every resource can be set up in a loop where output exceeds consumption, so nothing is ever truly finite.
  • No cheap infinite storage or creative shortcuts — on purpose. If the real goal were "gather enough to craft a creative storage cell", the rational move would be a throwaway production line, torn down as soon as it serves its purpose. That is exactly the mindset this pack refuses to reward. Production lines should accompany the player, not be discarded once they are "done".
  • No Mystical Agriculture-style passive generation. Nesting plants and AFK-ing for endless resources is not how this pack works.
  • No Create-style "one production line per item" tedium either. The goal is a handful of well-designed, interconnected lines — not a thousand single-purpose machines.
  • Tech and multi-device cooperation. There are no single-block farms and no single-block mob-drop factories. From farming to factories, resources come from real production lines.

Randomness is progression

Loot chests and reward bags are genuinely rewarding. They can hand you netherite blocks or gear far beyond your current stage — and that is fine, because there is no main line to "skip". Getting an overpowered drop does not mean skipping your life; it means you can now throw yourself fully into production.

What you won't find

  • A quest-book rail or main storyline
  • An endgame item to grind toward
  • AFK passive resource generation
  • Single-block farms
  • A creative-mode shortcut at the end of the pack

What's inside

  • 500+ mods across tech, agriculture, storage, exploration, combat, building and optimization
  • A strong visual identity: Excalibur retexturing with dozens of compatibility packs, custom fonts, tooltips and UI polish
  • 5 shader presets included (Complementary Reimagined & Unbound, BSL, Solas, Super Duper Vanilla)
  • TACZ (Timeless & Classics: Zero) and its compatibility mods are included, but gunpacks are not bundled — download any gunpacks you like and drop them into the tacz folder
  • Survival difficulty is deliberately low — but not absent

Requirements

  • Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge
  • Java 21
  • A generous RAM allocation (8 GB or more, more if you use shaders) — this is a heavy pack

Installation

Import the file through the CurseForge app (or any launcher that supports CurseForge modpacks), allocate the RAM above, and launch. The mod loader and game version are handled by the pack file.

Honest caveats

  • Performance. 500+ mods is a constant fight. The pack is heavy, and optimization is imperfect — I have done what I can, but this is not a light pack.
  • Balance. A production-sink pack is genuinely hard to balance without heavy rebalancing, and this one is still being explored. Expect rough edges.
  • It is a work in progress. The pack evolves with my own playthrough, not with market research.
