Welcome to Of Machines And Blood!
Mods
Main Mods
Of Machines And Blood is a modpack bringing together the thrill of adventure and the fun of engineering. Centered around the famous Create mod, this modpack brings magic powered by the Ars Noveau mod (bridged with Create through Ars Creo) and computers and turtles powered by CC: Tweaked (bridged with Create through CC:C Bridge). Exploration is rewarded with beautiful biomes powered by Biomes O' Plenty and Serene Seasons. The Create add-ons Create: Misc & Things, Create Crafts & Additions, Create Enchantment Industry, Create: Extended Cogwheels extend Create's behavior to allow for even more automation and engineering!
Other Mods
Game Feel
The game's overall experience and feel is made better by:
- Quark: adds many useful and immersive features to the world, as well as adding new ways to place blocks, edit sign text, and much more.
- Smooth Swapping: animates quickly moving an item stack through the inventory, such as when Shift-Clicking a pack.
- Visual Workbench: shows the crafting process to people outside the workbench.
- Villager Names: gives all villagers random names, making them feel more unique.
- Traveler's Titles: gives titles to biomes you visit, making you feel like you're in an adventure.
- SwingThroughGrass: allows you to hit mobs through grass instead of getting frustrated by the mob/block position priority.
- Sound Physics Remastered: adds filters to sounds, such as adding reverb in a cave or making sounds muffled through walls.
- Skin Layers 3D: brings a little more flavour to skins making use of the skin layers.
- Neat: adds health bars to players, mobs and bosses alike.
- Mouse Tweaks: adds some useful ways to select, move, merge or split items in inventories, such as when crafting.
- Legendary Tooltips: changes the game's item tooltips to be more visually pleasing and decorate by rarity.
- Just Enough Items (JEI) + Just Enough Resources (JER): JEI will show you how to craft anything or what something can be used to craft; JER will additionally tell you which mobs drop it, where to find it, and what chances it has of dropping from mobs or being obtained in loot chests.
- Just Another Rotten Flesh to Leather Mod: allows you to convert Rotten Flesh dropped by zombies into Leather.
- AmbientSounds 5: makes the world more alive through the sounds of nature.
- AppleSkin: adds useful information to the hunger bar, such as how much saturation a certain food gives.
- BetterAdvancements: improves (increases the size of) the advancements screen.
- Better Block Sounds: substitutes some of the game's old block sounds with newer ones.
- Carry On: allows you to carry an entity, so you don't have to break your chest to move it ever again (also works on entities).
- Chunk Animator: beautifully animates chunks as they appear in the horizon; a better look than simply popping up, makes it feel like they were hidden all along.
- Corpse: leaves your corpse on the ground when you die, so you don't have to worry about your items despawning for instance.
- Enchantment Descriptions: adds descriptions to the game's enchantments; never search for an enchantment's effect again!
- Fast Leaf Decay: no more waiting for a tree's leaves to fall; with this mod, once the trunk has been broken, the leaves will fall almost instantly!
- Jade: shows what block you're looking at and certain properties of it (such as durability).
- Loot Beams: adds small light beams to dropped items, coloured by rarity, making it easier to see items in the ground without having to look down all the time.
- Lumberjack: adds balanced lumberjack axes, making the process of obtaining wood far less stressful and time consuming.
- Diagonal Fences: allows fences to connect to diagonally adjacent fences; doesn't change how the game works very much but makes it look a lot better and more consistent.
- Not Enough Animations: makes some third person animations (such as eating) more consistent with their first person versions, so it will really look like it does to you for others.
- Emotecraft: allows you to communicate in fun ways with your friends when playing multiplayer.
- Better Tridents: with this mod you can craft tridents and repair them, just like your sword!
- Crafting Tweaks: adds some shortcuts to common Crafting Table actions.
- Presence Footsteps: adds satisfying walking sounds depending on the block you're on (left and right steps vary!).
- Advancement Plaques: adds a rewarding sound effect and animation for the advancement popup whenever you reach a milestone.
- Auto Third Person: automatically puts you in third person when riding mobs or inside a vehicle (such as a boat).
- Dynamic Music Updated: fitting music that changes based on what you're doing and where you are.
- Dynamic Surroundings Resurrected: a rebirth of one of the best game feel mods to ever exist. Adds sounds and particles according to context.
- Medieval Music: adds medieval music to the game, making you feel even more like you're in an adventure RPG.
Mechanics
New mechanics are added to the game by the following mods:
- Waystones: adds a balanced way of unlocking fast travel between often visited places.
- Storage Drawers: makes organizing stored items much easier.
- Sophisticated Backpacks: makes exploration easier and better by making you not have to worry about inventory space.
- Skillcloaks: what about looking cool and receiving a buff at the same time? That's what Skillcloacks is all about.
- Construction Wand: makes building easier and faster.
- Doggy Talents: besides allowing dogs to respawn, makes it so you can train a tamed wolf and make it go from a man's best friend to a deadly world explorer's best friend.
- Iron Chests: Restocked + Iron Furnaces: adds more and better chests and furnaces, so you don't have to limit yourself to wooden chests and stone furnaces anymore.
- OpenBlocks Elevator: jump to go up, crouch to go down! Makes travelling tall bases an easy task.
- Angel Ring: makes it so you can fly in survival like you could in creative while wearing a special ring (the ring is not cheap to make, though!).
- Aquaculture 2: makes fishing better than last time!
- AstikorCarts [Horse Carts]: do you have a horse? Do you want to transport items through long distances? Are you slower than your horse? If you are like me and said yes to all of those, Astikor Carts is the mod for you! Attach a cart to your horse and use it to carry items and other things away at horse speed!
- Paragliders: yes, the one from Zelda! Adds a super awesome way to fly through the world!
- Lootr: everyone can enjoy looting the same dungeon now!
- Farmer's Delight: expands upon the game's farming experience.
- Better Combat: Minecraft's combat feeling like you've never seen before; crazy good animations in both third and first person!
- Simple Voice Chat: communicate with your friends using your voice, goes well with Sound Physics, so you'll hear their echoing screams as they're chased by a creeper down the cave.
Building
These mods make building beautiful bases quite a nice experience:
- Create Deco: decoration blocks, in Create's style!
- Supplementaries: adds many interactable blocks and decorative blocks to the game.
- MrCrayfish's Furniture Mod: adds many decorative blocks to the game.
- Many of the mods in other sections of this mod list add building blocks and decorative blocks although that may not be their focus, such as Quark and Biomes O' Plenty.
Exploration
Exploration becomes much better due to these mods:
- Comforts: adds sleeping bags and hammocks to Minecraft, so you don't have to carry a bed while going far away from your base and lose your spawn point in the process.
- Apotheosis: traps, monsters and challenges all around you! Apotheosis also tweaks some other game mechanics such as allowing sugar cane to grow taller and changing the way Enchanting works.
- YUNG's Collection (YUNG's Better Desert Temple, YUNG's Better Dungeons, YUNG's Better Mineshafts, YUNG's Better Nether Fortresses, YUNG's Better Ocean Monuments, YUNG's Better Strongholds, YUNG's Better Witch Huts, YUNG's Bridges, YUNG's Extras): makes many vanilla buildings and structures simply better than before, and adds some new ones.
- Alex's Mobs: adds some cute and dangerous animals to make the game more immersive.
- Better Villages: you won't recognize the villages; it will feel like the villager civilisations advanced hundreds of years on their base building techniques.
- Creeper Overhaul: stone creepers, sand creepers, all the sorts!
- Goblin Traders: when mining deep underground, you can find these short and adorable creatures with a taste for trading!
- When Dungeons Arise: well, the dungeons have arisen, and that's why you see all of those towers full of loot around! But beware, for they are dangerous.
Performance
I am still experimenting with performance mods, seeing which work the best with which, so I won't make any solid performance mod list just yet. But suffice it to say that the mod currently contains both server- and client-side optimization mods.
