ABOUT:
Rustic Horizons (RH for short), is an adventure RPG that tries to make your experience more laidback and chill instead of grueling and frustrating like many other packs. It's set in a well, rustic fantasy world where you must collect items used to summon and locate bosses in order to defeat them.
This pack also takes a different approach on progression and how the player should play. Commonly overlooked features and methods are encouraged and rewarded, and the easiest or most overpowered way is almost never the best. This is present in many parts of the pack, and the point is to get the player to think about how they want to accomplish goals differently than usual.
NOTES:
-This pack can run on lower end devices, with pretweaked settings and a slew of performance mods. For a smooth experience, I would recommend somewhere around 6GB of RAM.
-It also comes with a pretweaked Mellow shader for optimal performance yet sweet graphics, but you can add your own.
-For Multiplayer, I recommend adding your own mods, like voice chats, Lootr, etc.
FEATURES:
Story: The pack has a fleshed out questbook that will guide you through progression and help complete your goals. It also is packed with very useful information to teach you about mechanics and features. The main premise of the pack is to defeat all the bosses within it, via collecting items called Harbingers. These items summon bosses for you to fight, but some bosses are only found with Eyes, which lead you to their arena.
World Gen: The land is transformed with better terrain, many new biomes, and bountiful structures, those of which have been picked to be as immersive as possible instead of insanely huge like WDA.
Wildlife: Across your journey you’ll discover many new mobs, whether they’re passive, hostile, fictional, or from real life. Many of these new creatures will be important to progression.
Dimensions: RH has two all new dimensions, being the mystical Aether and Starlight. These dimensions house 6 bosses all together, and you will have to venture into these worlds. to progress. The Nether and End also have substantial overhauls, but they still retain their older themes and feel.
Combat: Fighting is now more engaging, with more ways to deal more damage, expanded archery and a very light magic system, as well as combat rolls and unique relics to give you an extra edge.
Armor: Each tier of armor now has a special set of buffs and debuffs, making even overlooked armors viable. Netherite and Diamond may be beefy tanks, but it will slow you down, while less protective armor like Gold and Leather have extra speed and other perks. Some of the new armor even have innate abilities, so go out and try which one you like the most. No one armor is exactly the best anymore, they’re each good for different situations.
Food: Managing your food is a big part of RH. Easy to get Vanilla food will see massive debuffs, meaning down the road, you will need to invest in modded farming and cooking to get substantial nourishment. (psst, food that is harder to get often comes with 2x nutrition and saturation than usual, as well as special effects, very handy for taking down bosses!)
Ambience and Immersion: RH has many different ambient mods, ranging from better combat sounds, smooth animations in GUI’s Mobs, and even the player, and little visual details everywhere you look.
Tweaks and Changes: RH has many changes to parts of the game, like recipes that will require a little exploration, a reworked material based enchanting system, and many other things that will encourage the main principle of the pack: The easiest way is usually never the best.
CREDITS:
Deepa Cat: Wrote the starting Harbinger script, as well as lots of help in other scripts
Emma: Lots of help with debugging, and took the time to help me fix crashes
Icywhenhot: Made some mods upon request, as well as support. (check out his mods!)
The Bottom Dweller, Cosmonautic, and Nekomaster: Biggest inspiration on how to have good modpack design (check out their modpack reviews!)
And to everyone else at the MDK server, for all your advice, suggestions, and putting up with me as I tried to put together this pack.
Hope you enjoy RH! I put a lot of love into, and I hope you love playing it as much as I do : D
