🌌 The War of the World
The War of the World is a dark, post-apocalyptic survival modpack for Minecraft 1.20.1 (Forge), built around a world that has already lost its war. Humanity has fallen, cities stand abandoned, nature grows unchecked, and survival is no longer guaranteed by strength alone.
The remains of civilization stretch endlessly across the continents. Vast ruined cities dominate the landscape, forests grow unnaturally dense, seasons pass without mercy, and the sky itself feels hostile. Dangerous entities roam freely, nights are suffocatingly oppressive, and every journey beyond shelter risks death.
This is not a rush-to-endgame experience. Progression is slow, tense, and punishing. Survival depends on scavenging ruined structures, managing food and rest, planning movement carefully, and knowing when to fight — and when to hide.
⚙️ Performance, Stability & Optimization
The War of the World is built from the ground up to be highly optimized and server-friendly. Extensive performance, memory, and simulation optimizations allow the pack to run smoothly even with dense city generation, high mob counts, complex weather systems, and long play sessions.
All of this is achieved without sacrificing atmosphere, visuals, or immersion, making the pack suitable for both long-term singleplayer survival and multiplayer servers.
🌍 Exploration, Survival & Atmosphere
Explore massive abandoned cities, overgrown forests, and vast continents shaped by decay. Structures weather and crumble over time, seasons alter survival conditions, and environmental effects constantly pressure the player.
Darkness is no longer safe. Visibility, sound, and positioning matter. Hostile entities behave more intelligently, nights are genuinely dangerous, and careless exploration is often fatal.
Survival mechanics emphasize realism and immersion. Food preparation and hunger management matter, healing is limited, death has consequences, and long-term survival requires preparation rather than raw power. Traps, defensive building, secure shelters, and careful planning play a major role.
Quality-of-life systems such as backpacks, furniture, detailed maps, and proximity voice chat support both solo survival and cooperative multiplayer gameplay without breaking immersion.

🎯 Intended Experience
The War of the Worlds is designed for players who want a bleak, hostile survival experience focused on large-scale ruined environments, tense exploration, meaningful scavenging, and a world that feels truly lost. Combat is dangerous, resources are scarce, and the environment itself is an enemy.
The war has already been lost.
The world belongs to the ruins now.
Adapt… or disappear.
