About

Description

Village and Pillage but Better is a modpack that aims to add and improve various things with villagers and illagers. A relatively small pack, but the mods work with each other well.

Notable features include:

  • More Illager variants!
  • Improved villages!
  • Appearance overhaul of all vanilla illagers!
  • More villager professions!
  • Villagers that fight back!
  • Stronger iron golems!
  • Lots of unique and powerful items!
  • A powerful new boss with a cool boss theme!
  • Actually useful (and maybe even overpowered) wandering traders!

 Setup:

  • Before creating your world, set entity cramming threshold to 160 or over (if you're doing hardcore, open your world to LAN after world creation with cheats on, then type in chat "/gamerule maxEntityCramming 160")
  • Enable the resource packs

Lore:

Long, long ago, there was a race of ancient builders who constructed the most marvelous of buildings and civilizations with ever growing knowledge and technological advancements. Then one day, some of them decided that they'd had enough and wanted to settle and have a normalized routine instead of charting the unknown. So they split off from the others and built villages to settle in and lived happy routine lives. But after a while, some villagers were longing to go back to the old ways, exploring and changing the world. But most of the other villagers didn't approve, so these villagers left the village to explore. But one villager stayed behind and made magical and technological advancements in secret that most would conceive as unethical. So when the other villagers found out, they destroyed his research and sent him into exile. But he wasn't done yet. He gathered all of the other villagers who had been exiled or left their villages to explore and formed an army. The villager, who now called himself the Magispeller, built a massive army and attacked the villagers. The villagers and the ancient builders who came to support them were no match for the illagers' most recent magical and technological advancements, thus wiping out the ancient builders completely and almost wiping out the villagers. Hundreds of years pass. Some new faces have joined the Magispeller’s inner circle, the Illager Empire’s influence has spread all across the world, and the villagers are nearing extinction as their rag-tag community militias pitifully attempt to defend their homes against entire armies. However, there was one ancient builder who survived, one last hope for the villagers. You! You are the only one who can defeat the Magispeller and his army and save villagerkind. Now, go!
