To start, this mod provides a very unique dimension which executes a style i havent really seen before in a minecraft mod (atleast in modern versions). Though there are some very visible issues such as having issues with map mods due to no blocks having any assigned map colors, along with the scrapyard mud block taking up even the deepest parts of the underground which doesnt really make that much sense.

In terms of atmosphere and the general feeling, its absolutely amazing and everything was just done so well, the sounds, the visuals, the mobs even and the dark degraded colors of it all just makes it fit perfectly together and it creates this really great feeling.

For gameplay though, is where its issues can really be seen, there arent that many items and blocks to start off with, and every item except for the building blocks have only like 1 or 2 uses. both the 'Survey' and 'Utility' mobs seem to be hostile but are incredibly easy to avoid, along with their drops needed for specific things being super low for some reason. There isn't much greater progression than creating a Scrap Reactor which doesnt really do much though did have a planned greater use which never ended up happening.

So while its good in a lot of ways, the standalone gameplay isn't that interesting, though the mod was abandoned at a very early stage of its development, and most of its issues can be fixed through a combination of kubejs, structurify, and incontrol.

Overall a nice mod that really shouldn't have been abandoned so early.

together.. we, are the dulling

Starting off with performance.. while i havent really noticed any actual fps/tps issues, others have with having large problems with certain modded dimensions. I myself HAVE seen missionaries and specific other dulling mobs ignore gamerules allowing them to still spawn even if stuff is off, along with the dulling automatically starting once you enter the heart of the dulling dimension for whatever reason.

Into gameplay, my favorite part about this is that the 'infection' doesnt automatically start, you're told like 50 different times to NOT break the block that keeps the world safe from the dulling (sacreligious core) and you still decide to do anyway, leading you to have to use the dulling's materials for your own advantage, travel to already destroyed worlds inorder to get stuff to end their reign from the inside. But then they also end up eclipsing the sun and is that THE ADAPTICON-.. The Adapticon symbolizes 'the end of the world' along with the coming of the Demigod dulling, in which you'll need to interact with them inorder to properly kill them and stop the dulling with the items they drop.. embrace YVXZLIGHT and so on

Onto its style and aesthetic, it reminds me a lot of The Slumbering Omen even down to how item descriptions are done, but instead of beings corrupted by the distortion or an anomalous shadow femboy from dimensional doors limbo. It's instead incredibly greedy replicating stone constructs who want to make every dimension they end up in as their own until everything IS the dulling, the lost interfold in its atmosphere reminds me of pre-1.16 divinerpg Iceika in that it feels like a cold, dead world left to decay, and it actually is intended to be like that and executes that PERFECTLY. The Heart Of The Dulling aka the dulling dimension is different, it feels as if the walls themselves are breathing, the dulling live here, and you are NOT welcome here. But for progression and to stop the dulling you're going to have to visit both of these dimensions multiple times.

If you like a mod that combines a mob infection with rpg mechanics, a magic system, different dimensions, and horror in a way, you should play this mod.

The Slumbering Omen... where do i even START with it..

Starting off with its performance, in early versions it did break a lot though by its final update 4.2unfinished, its very polished with the only glaring issue being the Tainted Scar's generation which isn't easily fixable due to minecraft being minecraft, while the omen and glykaris have some issues its not too noticeable and it wont harm your gameplay really that much.

For gameplay, its genuinely an unrecreatable experience, the story and lore actually matter in which some becomes relevant depending on your choices, it shifts the entire progression around itself making it really as impactful as it should be in a way to if its in a modpack it should be the main focus as it has the biggest impact on the player and their world. It also executes horror very well and each entity does their own thing, Daraku you have to slowly sneak away from as he watches your every move before trying to run after you, The Omen itself sometimes has fake attacks so you never know if its an illusion or not, The Lost is sometimes friendly though can be provoked through some unspecific ways. Theres also the rpg mechanics with having a full-on magic system and armor effects along with special items. The boss fights are really good and the dimensions are all vastly different from eachother with very different atmospheres, environments, and goals.

For its style and aesthetics, its hard to explain but it makes you feel attached to various different mobs, items, and places. Such as any scout-like mobs which i absolutely hate, along with The Lost who you just cannot trust. The Distortion is in terms of purely just atmosphere one of THE best experiences, only rivalling a few other modded dimensions. Though its gameplay is somewhat specialized to the Daraku side of TSO.

So... just stop reading this and go and play the mod, its worth it.

its like a mod where you're stuck in the back of rooms!!

No but actually.. to begin with the performance theres no major impacts, though extensive errot spreading and initial generation of both The Backrooms and The Red Road do cause SOME lag, it doesnt last that long and is effectively only once per new world, beyond that theres no really noticeable issues.

For gameplay, theres a lot of interesting little things found far enough into progression here, though at times you're just roaming aimlessly in a mostly empty office space with yellow wallpaper and annoying lights but its the backrooms so what did you think. But theres also sodas and candy bars which could be seen as the equivlant to potions here though usually on the weirder side. Beyond the backrooms has the red road, and the structure bridge, along with some other smaller places. In which those have a very different gameplay style and different goals, such as the white endergirl in the structure bridge which can help you clear out errot, along with the red road having an easy supply to redstone and aluminium. The structure bridge also introduces structure keys for fast travel across different dimensions within the places.

Atmosphere however is really the best part of the mod, the backrooms is executed perfectly, and while there is a lot to do here, it feels like theres so little here at the same time. Theres also stranger anomalies such as errot landscapes themselves, along with the towering Menger Stalkers found in the large rooms. The Red Road after some time is weirdly unnerving to its immense use of one color, that being a darkish red within this strange mostly lifeless space. The Structure Bridge feeling like an otherworldy hub dimension you can stay and do whatever in, and other places such as the manilla room feel very safe, the ridge's atmosphere being dark and oppressive, with the abnormal reality of Cave_Game feeling like a lifeless, forgotten world yet on the surface appears as if everyone simply disappeared all at once, with decay never being truly present.

For a general dimension mod, its good, and for a backrooms mod, its the best one you can find
