# Better Than Bountiful

Better Than Bountiful (formerly known as One Point Seven Reloaded) is a comprehensive update and expansion for Minecraft 1.7.10.

The original goal of this project was simple: stay close to vanilla, add back unused content (even from other versions of Minecraft like Pocket Edition and Bedrock), and fix the bugs Mojang never had the time to patch. As the mod evolved, it grew into a true "what Mojang might have shipped" style mod by enhancing mechanics, overhauling useless items, adding new challenges, and bringing massive Quality of Life improvements.

The newest additions are a complete built-in proximity voice chat and a fully controllable camera for taking in-game photos, joining the scientifically accurate night sky from the previous update: after sunset the sky fills with real constellations, all five naked-eye planets, a periodic comet, meteor showers, the aurora, and more, every one of them placed with real astronomy in mind.

## Dependencies

This mod requires **GTNHLib** and **Unimixins** to function.

## Client & Server

This mod needs to be on both the server and the client to work.

## Voice Chat (New!)

A complete proximity voice chat is now built directly into the mod, so no separate voice mod is needed.

- **Positional Audio:** Voices come from the direction of the speaker and fade with distance.
- **Voice Panel:** Opened with the period (.) key, with large mute and deafen buttons, a microphone picker, noise suppression, a live mic test, and a player list where every online player can be set from 0 to 200 percent or muted with a single click.
- **Three Talk Modes:** Push to talk, toggle, or voice activation with a calibratable threshold.
- **Mute & Deafen:** Discord style hotkeys (deafen silences both directions), plus a mic indicator on the HUD that can be moved to any corner.

## The Camera (New!)

A fully controllable camera for taking photos of your world.

- **Free Look:** Place the camera, then look around with smooth zoom, a self timer, and a walk mode that lets you wander around while the camera keeps filming.
- **Nine Filters:** From black and white and retro to the new Funhouse (fisheye bulge) and Swirl (spiral twist), each with an accurate live preview in the viewfinder.
- **Photos & Frames:** Photos can be placed in item frames. Your own photos can be swapped for custom images, while other players' photos are only ever held in a local display cache and never saved as files you can reuse.

## The Night Sky

The night is no longer empty. Wait for dark, then look up.

- **Constellations:** Real star patterns appear in their correct positions, fixed to the sky and filtered to what is actually visible from the world's latitude. Recognisable shapes like Cassiopeia, Cygnus, Auriga and Leo are all up there.
- **The North Star:** Polaris sits near the celestial pole, and the whole sky slowly wheels around it as the night passes.
- **Planets:** All five naked-eye planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn) move across the sky at their proper brightness.
- **Comet:** A periodic comet swings through on a long cycle, complete with a dual tail.
- **Meteors:** Six different classes of meteor streak overhead, building into full meteor showers on the right nights.
- **Aurora Borealis:** The northern lights ripple across the sky.
- **Stargazing:** Sneak and look up at a star, planet or constellation to identify it. The name appears and glows green the first time you find something new.
- **Rare Events:** Stay out long enough and you might catch something special, like a rare comet train.

## Bosses & Mobs

- **The Giant:** Added as a fully functional boss. It spawns rarely at light level 0 to 1 (double chance during a full moon) or can be summoned manually using a pillar of 2 Mossy Cobblestone and a Zombie Head. It throws boulders, spawns minions, and drops valuable loot (Nametag, Enchanted Book, Bottle o' Enchanting).
- **Wither Boss Buff:** Health increased by 50%. It now spawns 3 Wither Skeletons upon being summoned.
- **Demolitions Skeleton:** A rare 0.1 percent of skeletons secretly carry explosive arrows, firing at most sixteen before switching back to normal arrows.
- **Skeleton Bow Draw:** Skeletons now visibly pull back the bow before firing, so you can see the shot coming.
- **Charged Creepers:** No longer despawn. If a Zombie, Skeleton, Creeper, or Wither Skeleton is killed by a Charged Creeper, it will drop its skull.
- **Ocelot Jockey:** Baby zombies have a chance to spawn riding an ocelot.
- **Cats:** The classic standalone Cat Spawn Egg returns. 11 backported modern cat variants (black, red, siamese, calico, jellie, persian, ragdoll, tabby, british shorthair, all-black, white) can appear via taming, spawn eggs, and breeding (50/50 inheritance between parents with a 1/16 chance for a fresh mutation).
- **Pigs:** Saddled pigs are 7% faster, take curves much better, and can be healed with Apples and Carrots.
- **Endermen:** Will now always drop the block they are holding when killed, and they no longer forget their attacker after a few seconds or after a relog.
- **Hungry Animals:** Animals now notice the food in your hand almost instantly instead of ignoring it for several seconds.
- **Silverfish:** Now have a 25% chance to drop Iron Nuggets.
- **Bats:** Now drop a small amount of XP.

## Items, Tools & Crafting

- **Explosive Arrows:** Crafted from a gold nugget, a stick, a feather and two gunpowder. A small area blast that breaks cracked blocks.
- **Cracked Nether Bricks:** A new decorative block, crafted like cracked stone bricks and broken open by explosive arrows.
- **Gold Gear Overhaul:** Gold tools and armor are finally useful. Durability is massively increased (+369% for tools, +71% for armor). Gold tools deal +1 attack damage, and Gold Pickaxes can mine Iron Ore, plus Gold Ore too (a fixed vanilla bug).
- **Nuggets & Recycling:** Added Iron and Diamond Nuggets. You can now smelt down old Armor (including Horse Armor), Tools, Compasses, and Clocks to recycle them into Iron or Gold Nuggets.
- **New Recipes:** Added crafting recipes for Packed Ice, Chiseled Stone Bricks, Mossy Cobblestone, and Mossy Stone Bricks. Smelting Stone Bricks yields Cracked Stone Bricks.
- **Colored Saddles:** Saddles can be dyed to customise horses, mules, donkeys and pigs.
- **Cauldron Re-dyeing:** Glass panes, wool and hardened clay can be recoloured in a cauldron, even if they are already dyed. Horizontal glass panes now also break by hand.
- **Horizontal Iron Bars & Glass Panes:** Iron bars and glass panes can now be placed horizontally, opening up a lot of new building options.
- **Dynamic Light Items:** Magma cubes, furnace minecarts, the camera flash, nether stars, glowstone dust, blaze powder, blaze rods and fire charges now give off light.
- **Glistering Melon:** Now edible.
- **Milk Bottle:** Milk in a glass bottle (because why was it bucket only?).
- **Pumpkin Head Armor:** Wearing a pumpkin or jack-o-lantern on your head grants a small armor bonus. The Jack-o-Lantern variant additionally emits dynamic light, making it a great explorer tool.
- **Buffed Items:** Fishing Rods and Carrot on a Stick now have 100 durability. Iron doors and wooden doors now stack to 16.

## Enchantments

- **Bane of Arthropods Buff:** Now deals extra damage to Squids, Slimes, Magma Cubes, Ghasts, and Bats. Weapons enchanted with it also instantly mine cobwebs.
- **Blast Protection:** Knockback resistance scales with the sum of Blast Prot levels across all 4 armor pieces (full set of IV = 100% immunity). Dropped items with Blast Prot are no longer destroyed or pushed by explosions.
- **Fire Aspect:** Dropped items with Fire Aspect can no longer burn up.
- **Fire Protection:** Wearers swim faster through lava. Dropped items with Fire Prot can't burn up.
- **Projectile Protection:** Chance to fully block projectiles scales with summed armor levels (Punch arrows still bypass the block).
- **Silk Touch on Infested Blocks:** Silk Touch now lets you harvest Infested Stone/Cobblestone/etc. as the silverfish-bearing block.

## Potions

- **Haste Potion:** Brewed using Nether Wart, then Diamond Nugget, then Gold Ingot. Can be extended (Haste I) with redstone or upgraded with glowstone (Haste II).
- **Hunger Potion:** Brewed with zombie flesh. Applies rapid hunger.
- **Jump Potion (Grasshop):** Brewed with grass. Grants jump boost.
- **Blindness Potion:** For confusing your friends or enemies.

## Transport & Mechanics

- **Minecart Overhaul:** All minecarts now use shapeless crafting and drop as items when broken. Furnace Minecarts are vastly improved: they can pull up to 4 carts, run on Coal Blocks (for 9x the duration), deal damage to entities blocking the tracks, and now travel faster the more furnace carts are chained together into a train. Powered Activator Rails will now eject passengers, and dispensers or droppers can refuel a furnace minecart on the tracks.
- **Quiet Minecarts:** Rail laid on wool muffles the cart's rolling sound.
- **Nether Portal Linking:** Portals now remember and reuse known portals instead of creating a fresh one out in the wilderness when vanilla's short search fails, so nearby portals link logically.
- **Boat Overhaul:** Boats drop themselves when broken instead of sticks and planks. Crashing into Lilypads will now destroy the Lilypad, rather than breaking your boat.
- **Sleeping & Spawn:** You can now set your spawn point in a bed during the day. Landing on a bed reduces fall damage. Added new gamerules: playersSleepingPercentage (default 50) and instantSleep (default true).
- **Sleep Counter:** A sleep counter now shows in chat (for example "2/4 players sleeping") so everyone can see how close the night is to being skipped.
- **Armor Swapping:** Shift + Right-click with a piece of armor in your hand to instantly swap it with your currently equipped armor.
- **Book & Quill Revamp:** Increased pages from 50 to 99, and characters per page from 256 to 320. You can now add/remove pages in the middle of the book and navigate text using the mouse or arrow keys. Books can also be exported to and imported from local text files, named through a prompt.
- **Item Inspection:** Hold an item and press F to inspect it, with 14 different animations depending on the item type. Swords and flint and steel roll between several CS style flourishes each press. On by default and toggleable in the settings.
- **Anvil Overhaul:** Renaming an item always costs exactly 1 level and never raises the cost of future repairs. Repair level cost is now capped at 20 with progressive pricing that starts low and climbs per repair, so genuine repairs never hit the "Too Expensive!" lockout. Can be toggled off in the config.
- **Beacons:** The base pyramid can now be built using Lapis Lazuli blocks. Stained glass placed above a beacon dyes the beam to match the glass color.
- **Spawner Editing:** Mob spawners are available in the creative menu. Right-click any spawn egg on a spawner to change its mob (supports modded eggs: donkey, mule, wither skeleton, cat, giant).
- **Furnace Fuel:** Ladders, Buttons, Signs, Doors, Boats, and Bowls can now be used as fuel.
- **Recipe Yields:** Stairs now craft in batches of 6 instead of 4, and door recipes give 2 (both wooden and iron).
- **Climb Ladders with Space:** Hold Space on a ladder to climb up.
- **Glass & Glowstone Placement:** Torches and rails can now be placed on glass and glowstone blocks.
- **Snowballs Put Out Fire:** Throw a snowball at a burning player (or at yourself) to extinguish the flames. Very handy in the Nether.
- **Lava Bucket / Fire in Water:** A lava bucket thrown into water empties; fire items thrown into water dissolve.
- **Cactus Damage:** Breaking cactus by hand now damages you and applies Slowness, with a custom death message.
- **Commands:** Added the /g command for quick gamemode switching (e.g. /g c or /g 1). Mod commands are now split into /btb help for everyone and /btb op for operators.
- **World Border:** Added a configurable world border at 10,000 blocks that bounces players back (disabled by default).
- **Slim Skins:** Added a fix which makes skins with the slim (Alex) model work on this version.

## World & Plants

- **Cyan Flower:** Backported from Pocket Edition. Spawns naturally in Plains and Flower Forest biomes. Can be placed in flower pots.
- **Large Fern Pickup:** Large Ferns can now be harvested with Shears.

## Structures

- **Brick Pyramids:** The classic Indev pyramid returns as a rare structure that generates out in the desert.
- **Cobblestone Indev Structure:** The old Indev cobblestone build makes a comeback as an ultra rare find.
- **Footprints:** Mysterious footprints pressed into the ground, with loot buried just beneath them.
- **Desert Wells:** Desert wells now hide a loot chest down in the sand at the bottom.
- **Nether Mining Outpost:** A new abandoned mining outpost structure generates in the Nether.

## Music, Audio & Visuals

- **New Music Discs:** Added the "Calm 4" disc (Mono audio, found in dungeon, temple, and stronghold loot), the "Eleven" disc (crafted with the "11" disc, 4 Lapis, and 4 Diamonds), and the "Double Time" disc.
- **Expanded Soundtrack:** Integrated unreleased and unused tracks into the background music (Chris, Door, Droppy Like Ricochet, Equinoxe, Flake, Ki, Kyoto, Moog City), with more added including Dragon Fish, Shuniji, and Axolotl. Spooky Halloween music now plays down in the Nether.
- **Ambiance:** Added subtle ocean ambiance sounds, plus two rare and slightly corrupted cave ambience sounds for when you want the caves to feel properly unsettling.
- **Custom Capes:** Players can wear custom capes painted in a built-in cape painter with multiple slots (name each slot, mirror paint, copy the inside and outside, a color palette and a row of your recently used colors). Capes can be exported and imported between computers, with theft protection so other players' capes are only ever held in memory and never saved to your disk.
- **More Splash Texts:** Added a batch of new, more unique splash texts, including special ones that only show up on certain dates (like Christmas, and the server owner's birthday).
- **Custom Creative Tab:** All mod-added items are collected on a dedicated creative tab (page 2).
- **Configurability:** Toggle the old explosion and bow sounds and the old gravel texture in the mod settings, plus new toggles for the gold gear buff, the Bane of Arthropods buff and the anvil overhaul. The in game settings screen now shows only client options, keeping server settings in the config file and voice settings in the voice panel.

## Achievements

The mod's achievements are now woven directly into the vanilla achievement tree with thematic connections, so everything lives on one screen (open it instantly with the L key). Every achievement, vanilla and modded alike, now grants XP the first time it is earned. Highlights include:

- **Wolf Breeder:** Breed two wolves.
- **100 Days:** Survive for 100 in-game days.
- **Tame Ocelot:** Tame your first ocelot.
- **Balanced Diet:** Eat every food item in the game.
- **Stargazer:** Identify one member of every constellation and star group by looking up.
- **Celestial Cartographer (I and II):** Identify every individual star and body in the sky, then the second catalogue from Star Expansion 2.
- **Under One Sky:** Be out for every meteor type, the comet's return and the aurora.
- Plus achievements for boss kills, special items, and progression milestones.

## Admin Tools

- **Login Logger:** Server tracks player login/logout history with timestamps.
- **Grief Logger:** TNT, lava, and fire placement is logged for moderation review.
- **Custom Join/Leave Messages:** OPs can configure server-specific join/leave broadcasts.
- **Name Color Persistence:** Per-player chat-name colors persist across restarts.
- **Split Commands:** Player-facing commands live under /btb help, while operator tools are kept separate under /btb op.

## Creative Mode Tweaks

Added spawn eggs for The Giant and Wither Skeletons. Command Blocks, Fireworks, and fire are now visible in the creative inventory. Enderpearls can be thrown in creative mode.

## Built In

- **Borderless Fullscreen:** A borderless windowed fullscreen mode is built into the mod (F11), so the separate mod is no longer needed in the pack.
- **BugTorched:** The BugTorched fix set has been merged into BTB, since the original has not been updated since March 2025. A collision guard prevents double patching if the jar is still installed.

## Vanilla Bug Fixes (Mojira)

BTB includes numerous fixes for lingering 1.7.10 vanilla bugs, including but not limited to:

- **MC-3884 / MC-66347 / MC-506:** Fixed missing/incorrect sounds for items dropping in water, beds (cloth sounds), and hoppers (metal sounds).
- **MC-2025:** Mobs saved with the wrong position no longer end up stuck in blocks or teleport on reload (backported from 1.9).
- **MC-5991:** Smooth Sandstone can no longer be crafted into Smooth Sandstone.
- **MC-51655:** Ladders are now mined at the correct speed depending on the axe and enchantments.
- **MC-5312:** Thorns enchantment now functions correctly against all mobs.

- **MC-486:** Zombies and Skeletons now correctly burn when standing on slabs and stairs in sunlight.
- **MC-34448:** Mobs can now see the player through Double Tall Grass.
- **MC-3100:** Renamed "Stone Stair" to its correct name, "Cobblestone Stair".
- **MC-67532:** The selected hotbar slot texture now draws fully instead of being clipped two pixels short at the bottom.
- **MC-11877 / MC-3059:** Fishing rod reliability fixes, and the line now stays attached to the rod tip in third person and keeps up when you run.
- **Map Colors:** Sandstone and gravel now show their correct colours on maps (sand colored and stone grey).
- **Hopper Minecart:** Picks up items above it correctly and drops its contents combined when destroyed.
- **Minecarts:** Carts leaving a sloped track no longer sink into the ground, and you no longer sit too low in a cart standing on sloped rail.
- **Cape Flicker:** Fixed capes flickering while riding.
- **Crafting Table Texture:** Fixed the misaligned crafting table (workbench) side texture.
