Description

Chameleon Hunt

A prop hunt minigame for Minecraft 1.21.1. Hiders shrink to half size, strike a pose, and paint their own skin pixel by pixel to blend into the map. Seekers hunt them with auto reloading crossbows.

Required on both the server and every client.

How a round works

1. Players join a lobby with a command. Up to 16 per lobby.
2. The round starts automatically at a player count you set, or when a moderator forces it.
3. Hiders spawn as blank white half size players and get a hiding period. Seekers are blinded until it ends.
4. Seekers are released. One hit eliminates a hider.
5. Hiders earn 1 point for every second a seeker has line of sight on them. Seekers earn 100 points per catch.
6. When time runs out, surviving hiders are frozen and given Glowing so everyone can walk around and see the hiding spots. Scores are then announced.

Hider tools

Live skin painting. Paint directly onto your character in the world. The camera orbits your actual body while you paint. Includes a brush with 1x1, 2x2 and 3x3 sizes, paint bucket fill, eraser, smooth tool, HSV color wheel with a brightness slider, and a color picker that samples the exact shade of any block you click.

Plenty of poses selected from a radial wheel that shows a preview model of each pose. Most inspired from the original game.

Wall and ceiling climbing. Push into a wall to climb it. Touch a wall or ceiling in the air and you grip in place instead of falling. Hold sneak to slide down. Seekers can climb too.

Cameras. A shoulder camera that follows you and lets you turn a full circle to face it, plus a detachable freecam to scout your hiding spot from any angle.

Whistle. Press a key to emit a whistle at your location, audible within about 15 blocks. Automatic whistles can be enabled on a timer.

Balance and anti cheese

- Hiders cannot sprint. Sprinting drops your pose.
- Hiders cannot be pushed by other players.
- Bury more than half your body inside blocks and you get a warning, then Glowing until you move out.
- Players cannot break or interact with blocks during a round.
- No drowning during a round.
- Nametags are hidden while playing.
- Models press flush against walls and ceilings so there is no gap between you and the block.
- Posed players snap to 45 degree facing increments so you can line up square with blocks.
- Rotation and pose are synced, so every player sees exactly what you see.

Keybinds

| Key | Action |
| --- | --- |
| G | Pose wheel |
| B | Paint menu |
| V | Freecam |
| H | Whistle |
| Left and Right arrows | Rotate 45 degrees while posed |

All keybinds are rebindable in Options.

Building maps

Moderators define maps in game with commands. Set the play area bounds, the lobby spawn, seeker spawns and hider spawns. Players who leave the bounds are pulled back in.

Per map settings include auto start on or off, auto start player count, max players, seeker count, hiding time, seek time, answer check time, auto whistle on or off, and whistle interval. Maps and settings save to the world folder and persist across restarts.

A debug mode gives moderators the full hider or seeker kit in any world without building a map, for testing poses, painting, climbing and the crossbow.
