Description

Chat Heads Vintage

Chat Heads Vintage is a client-side Minecraft 1.12.2 backport of Chat Heads. It displays a player's skin head next to chat messages so senders are easier to distinguish.

Features

  • Shows each detected sender's skin head and hat layer beside their name, or in a neat column at the left of chat
  • Heads fade with chat and can have an optional shadow and 3D hat effect
  • Keeps wrapped messages, hover text and clickable chat links aligned, including when timestamp or chat-format mods move sender names
  • Offers accurate STRICT sender detection or broader HEURISTIC detection for server display names and nicknames
  • Can optionally show heads in system messages and command suggestions from Cleanroom, Brigo or Salutation
  • Manual aliases use nickname=MinecraftUsername, for example ServerNickname=RealName.

Command suggestion compatibility

Chat Heads Vintage can show player heads in these command suggestion lists:

When using Cleanroom 0.6.10 or later, please do not install Forge command autocomplete mods such as Brigo or Salutation alongside it.

A head is shown only when a suggestion exactly matches the Minecraft username of a player who is currently online, including capitalization. Nicknames, aliases and incomplete command text do not receive heads. The suggestion list automatically makes room for each head and keeps the entries visible and clickable.

Compatibility

  • Revo Font
  • Smooth Font
  • Cleanroom 0.6.10-alpha or newer
  • Salutation
  • Brigo

Incompatible

  • Revo UI

ChatHeads Vintage

stone age Chat Heads Vintage is a backport of dzwdz's Chat Heads for Minecraft 1.12.2.

It adds player heads next to chat messages, making it easier to distinguish between different players in multiplayer. It also improves the overall appearance of the chat by giving it a more polished and visually appealing look.

Features

  • Shows each detected sender's skin head and hat layer beside their name, or in a neat column on the left side of the chat
  • Heads fade together with chat messages and can optionally have a shadow and a 3D hat effect
  • Keeps wrapped messages, hover text, and clickable chat links properly aligned, including when timestamp or chat-formatting mods move sender names
  • Offers accurate STRICT sender detection or broader HEURISTIC detection for server display names and nicknames
  • Can optionally show heads in system messages and command suggestions provided by Cleanroom, Brigo, or Salutation
  • Manual aliases use the format nickname=MinecraftUsername, for example: ServerNickname=RealName

Compatibility

Compatible Font Renderer mods:

  • Revo Font (recommended)
  • SmoothFont

Chat Heads Vintage is compatible with the following command suggestion implementations:

  • CleanroomLoader 0.6.10 or later (recommended)
  • Brigo (Forge)
  • Salutation (Forge)

Cleanroom 0.6.10 and later includes a more modern and polished command suggestion system than Brigo or Salutation, so using Cleanroom's built-in implementation is recommended.

Brigo and Salutation cannot be used together with Cleanroom's built-in command suggestion system.

Original Description

Original Mod Images This clientside mod adds player heads next to chat messages, as seen on the screenshot above. It makes telling various people in chat apart a bit easier, and it looks hella nice.

Based on a request from Hugman on the Fabric Discord.

Cloth Config (and Mod Menu for Fabric) is needed to access the settings, but the mod works without it, using the default settings.

Note: The default settings might not work on some servers. In this case try using the "Heuristic only" sender detection mode. Note that this might put wrong chat heads on some messages.

Note: Incompatible with newer versions of OptiFine (~1.20.1), use Sodium and co instead.
