Description
This Zombie Infection Mod adds the functionality that Zombies are able to give you a deadly infection.
Changes in the 2.0.0 update
New Infectious Carrier phase (optional, configurable)
- Becoming Infectious: In advanced infected stage, every carrier can spread infection through the air (Aerosol)
- Airborne transmission (Aerosol): Infected entities can pass infection to nearby Players & Villagers through the air.
New mob behaviors
- Iron Golems attack infected players: Golem recognizes and attacks infected persons (optional)
- Player-to-player inflicting potential: Infected persons can also infect others (optional)
- Villager-to-Zombie conversion: A villager dying from infection becomes a Zombie Villager instead (optional)
- Vanilla Zombies can be configured to spawn with the new infectious effect (as spreaders) to infect Villagers and Players through the air (optional)
New (optional) Cure Options (without immunity)
- Golden Apples and Enchanted Golden Apples cure for INFECTION + INFECTIOUS effects (optional)
When a Zombie hits you there is a chance that you get infected (default 80%). Armor will lower this chance by a value of up to 60 (with full Netherite). If the infection timer runs out you die instantly.
Starting with version 1.5.0 a small display with the current protection value against infections was added (e.g. a value of 20% means, out of 10 times a Zombie hits you 8 hits will most likely infect you). The protection value display can be enabled/disabled and moved in the settings on the client config page.

Killing a Zombie has a 7.5% chance that Contagious Flesh gets droped. The Looting enchantment adds 2.5% per level.
Heating up the Contagious Flesh will give you Heated Zombie Flesh, which is not contagious anymore.

When you combine the Heated Zombie Flesh with Gold Ingots you get Gold Streaked Zombie Flesh. Eating the gold streaked flesh resets the infection timer, but it does not cure you.

In the last step you brew yourself The Cure, combining the Gold Streaked Flesh with an awkward potion.

You can extend the duration of the cure potion with Redstone and turn it into a Cure Potion II lasting 3x as long.
