About
Description
This is a mod that introduces a deadly, progressive sickness to stop players from building permanent bases in isolated "pocket" dimensions (like Applied Energistics 2's Spatial Storage or DimDoors' pockets). It's designed to drive players back to the overworld and encourage community interaction.
This mechanic is inspired by the cosmic horror of Event Horizon and the physical degradation of Annihilation, portraying these sterile dimensions as fundamentally hostile to human life.
How It Works
Lingering is Punished: The longer a player stays in a target dimension, the more "Exposure" they gain.
Progressive Stages: As exposure builds, the player moves through stages of sickness, suffering worsening effects like slowness, weakness, nausea, and mining fatigue.
Fatal Transformation: If a player refuses to leave, they will reach the final stage. The sickness kills them and spawns a hostile "Echo" of their former self at their place of death, named after the player it consumed.
Recovery is Simple: To recover, players must flee back to the overworld (or any other safe dimension). Exposure will slowly fade, and the effects will reverse.
Limited Protection: A full Hazmat suit (from Alex's Caves) can slow the sickness in its early stages, but it cannot stop it.
This mechanic makes pocket dimensions useful for short trips and storage but uninhabitable for a main base, forcing your players to build and interact in the world you intended.
How To Install
