About

Description

Disease Reborn adds procedurally generated contagious diseases to Minecraft. Every disease is unique and has its own symptoms, infectivity, resistance, and severity tier and can spread through the air, raw food, injuries, death, overcrowding, and the environment.

Each disease has a unique, procedurally generated cure recipe derived from its symptoms. There are no recipe lookups, you have to research the cure yourself.

Diseases are generated into your world automatically (a few on first load), then spread on their own. An entity can become infected by:
  - Air: lingering near an infected, contagious carrier
  - Raw food: eating raw meat/fish
  - Injury: being hurt near an infected entity
  - Death: an infected entity dying near others
  - Mob spawns: natural spawns have a small chance to start sick
  - Overcrowding: when too many mobs pack into a tight space, an outbreak can emerge on its own
  - Environment: prolonged time in water or rain

Severity scales with rarity: the more dangerous tiers are rarer, and the deadliest diseases can develop lethal
late-stage complications.

You diagnose and cure diseases using four workstations:

  - Syringe: sneak + right-click yourself, or right-click an infected mob, to take a sample (fills the syringe).
Use a filled syringe on any mob/player to inject the disease (single-use; cook it to clean it).
  - Discovery Table: insert a filled syringe + a book to create a Knowledge Journal documenting the disease
(name, sample stage, severity, spread type, symptoms).
  - Study Table: insert a filled syringe to reveal, for each symptom, the pool of candidate cure ingredients
plus the tier's required medicine base. It auto-updates your journal.
  - Medicine Table: combine a bottle + the disease's medicine base + its symptom ingredients to brew the cure.
The right combination yields a labelled cure tonic; a wrong one just makes a useless tonic.

The Study Table/journal only tell you the candidate pool per symptom — not the exact ingredient. To find the real one:
  1. Infect a test mob with a filled syringe (your "guinea pig").
  2. Feed it candidate ingredients one at a time and watch its reaction:
    -Hearts: exact cure ingredient
-Sparkles: right symptom pool, wrong item
    -Smoke: unrelated
  3. Note the hearts in your journal, assemble the full recipe, and brew it at the Medicine Table.

A Plague Doctor armor set is also included, wearing the full set grants immunity to airborne diseases.

This mod is in beta and actively developed. Planned work includes more symptoms, more transmission vectors, and polished art/UI

This mod ships with a built-in compatibility patch for the mods in the KnightCraft modpack, and is being tested on the KnightCraft server.
