Elements: Claims

Minecraft NeoForge Version Side Type Source

Elements: Claims is a server-side land claiming mod for NeoForge 1.21.1, part of the Elements family by Telmarine. Players claim chunks with a Claim Deed and trust other players into ranks they set up themselves.

It's stand-alone with no dependencies. Permissions go through NeoForge's permission API, so any permission mod that sets the claims.limit number node can give each rank its own chunk allowance. If you run Elements: Nexus, its ranks can set it, but you don't need it.

Claiming land

  • Right-click with the Claim Deed to claim the chunk you're standing in. Sneak + right-click to unclaim. /claim deed gives you a new one if you lose it.
  • Each claim is a property with its own name, ranks and flags. Properties share one chunk allowance and can span the Overworld, the Nether and the End.
  • Players can own 1 property by default. Server owners can raise this to 5 (for example a base and a shop in different places).
  • /claim create <name> starts a new property. /claim <property> manage switches the active one.
  • /claim <property> transfer <player> hands a property to another player, with a confirm screen. The receiver needs to be online.

Ranks and trust

  • /trust, /untrust and /trustlist. Trusted players go to the lowest rank.
  • Every claim starts with Owner, Admin, Member and Visitor. Owners can rename, reorder, add and delete ranks and set each rank's flags in the menu.
  • Only the owner sets flags. Give a rank Admin Mode to let it trust, untrust, promote, demote, remove and ban players ranked below it.
  • Private claims (trusted players only) and claim bans. Banned players get moved just outside the claim.

Sub-areas

  • Mark out any block-precise area inside your claim with the Sub-area Stick.
  • Players can have a different rank inside a sub-area: /trust <player> <subarea> <rank>. Someone can be a Member in your claim and a Shop Owner inside the sub-area.
  • Each sub-area can have one manager who runs it while you're away.
  • Removing someone whose blocks are still in the sub-area gives them 7 days to collect their things first.

Land flags

PvP, Explosions, Mob Griefing, Outside Griefing, Fire Spread, Fluid Flow, Monster Spawning, Animal Spawning, Crop Trampling, Growth, Decay & Melt, and Enter/Leave Titles. Each one can be switched off server-wide in features.toml.

Protection

Breaking and placing, containers, doors, redstone, farming, item use, mobs, armor stands, item frames, item pickup, ender pearls, chorus fruit, flying and elytra. At startup every block, item and mob from every installed mod is sorted into a flag, so modded containers and machines are covered without setup. Overrides go in detected.toml.

Machines from other mods (fake players) act as the player who placed them. A machine outside a claim can't reach in and grief it, and the owner's own machines keep working.

Mod support

Create, Sophisticated Backpacks/Storage, Crystal Tools, Waystones, Gravestone, Lootr, Xyndra's Crates, Easy NPC, Carry On, Tom's Simple Storage, Spudacious Shops, Elements: Economy shops, MineColonies and Aquaculture. Each link only loads when that mod is installed and has its own switch.

Claims also show on BlueMap and squaremap.

Staff tools

  • Admin claims for spawn, hubs or a jail (/claim deed admin): keep inventory, no hunger, block entry or exit, and commands that run when a player walks in or out.
  • Lag limits per chunk or per claim (hoppers, armor stands, minecarts, pistons and more) and optional entity limits.
  • Abandoned claims (off by default): how long an owner can be offline depends on how much they've played.
  • Action log of every change, searchable with /claims log find <text>.
  • Backups of claim data every hour and every day, with automatic restore and staff alerts (optional Discord webhook).

Switching from another claim mod

/claims import <opac|ftb|flan|cadmus> brings in claims from Open Parties and Claims, FTB Chunks, Flan or Cadmus. A backup is made first. While another claim mod is installed, Claims stays in import-only mode so the two never protect the same land. Import, remove the other mod and restart, and Claims turns on by itself.

Permissions

Node Default What it does
claims.use Everyone Use the Deed, /claim and /trust
claims.limit Starter value Chunk allowance (number node)
claims.properties 1 How many properties a player can own (max 5)
claims.bypass OP Build and edit in any player's claim
claims.admin OP Build and edit in admin claims
claims.info, claims.reload, claims.detected, claims.import, claims.log OP Staff commands
claims.expiry.exempt OP Claims never get marked as abandoned

Note: admin claim enter/leave commands run as the console. Only give claims.admin to people you'd trust with the console, or turn them off with enter_leave_commands = false in features.toml.

Config

Everything is in config/elements_claims/. features.toml is the master control file, where every feature, rank flag and land flag can be switched on or off.

For developers

Other mods can check claims through com.tac5studios.elementsclaims.api.ClaimsAPI: can, canBuild, canUseShops, claimName, owner, isTrusted, plus action log hooks.
