About

Description

Faded Pearl

Somewhere deep beneath the surface, you may hear someone crying.

Follow the sound and you may find a wounded Enderman hiding in the dark. He is not a boss, nor another creature waiting to be tamed with a single click. He is a Fade — one of the rare Endermen who escaped the Ender Dragon’s influence — and he has every reason to be afraid of you.

You can choose to help him.

Healing the Fade is only the beginning. Trust grows slowly through the way you treat him, the places you visit together, and the small moments he remembers. At first, he may keep his distance. With time, he can follow you, protect you, carry you away from danger, examine things that catch his attention, and react to the world around him.

He may notice a flower in your hand, become curious about an animal, remember a name, or comment on something you discover together.

Faded Pearl is not about giving you a stronger wolf. It is about making one unusual companion feel like somebody who is gradually learning to live beside you.

Your story with the Fade

How to heal Fade

Take Fade's pearl and drop it into water. Then add a flower of your choice — the flower you pick will determine the color of his new pearl and eyes!

  • Find a wounded Fade naturally in an underground cave and discover how to heal him.
  • Earn his trust instead of receiving every ability immediately.
  • Watch his appearance and behaviour change as your bond develops.
  • Give him simple commands: Follow, Stay, Rest and Home.
  • Let him protect you, rescue you from danger or carry you during joint teleports.
  • Show him interesting items and watch him examine them before returning them.
  • See him react to animals, villages, weather, discoveries, names and other Fade companions.
  • Unlock the Enderman Journal, whose pages gradually fill with memories, observations, controls and recipes.
  • Build a Resonating Anchor to give him a home and call him back to you.
  • Craft the permanent Escape Pearl upgrade, preventing accidental attacks from his bonded player from hurting him or damaging their relationship.

The mod supports both English and Polish.

Cave encounters, trust gains and losses, the Resonating Anchor’s reward and the Fade’s recovery delay can be configured separately for each world.

Beta notice

Version 1.8.0-beta.3 has completed its singleplayer tests on both a fresh world and an existing test world.

Multiplayer is available. An earlier three-player session confirmed that separate players can form bonds with their own Fades. However, complete dedicated-server testing covering restarts, disconnects, recovery and dimension travel has not yet been completed.

Please treat multiplayer as experimental during this beta. Back up the world before playing and install the exact same Faded Pearl JAR on the server and every player’s client.

Requirements

The release was tested with:

  • Minecraft 1.20.1
  • Forge 47.4.22
  • Java 17
  • GeckoLib 4.8.4
  • SmartBrainLib 1.15

Other dependency versions accepted by the mod may work, but they were not used during release testing.

Updating an existing world

Close Minecraft and back up the entire world before updating.

Remove every older Faded Pearl JAR from the active mods folder, install the new version and first open a copy of your world. Check that your Fade, trust level, Enderman Journal and home location are still correct.

Do not downgrade a world that has already been saved by a newer version. A safe rollback requires restoring both an older world backup and the matching older set of mods.

Before installing or updating, please read the installation instructions.
