Description

A backpack you wear, set down, and build into a field station.
Carry Pack adds four tiers of backpack with real capacity: 54 to 120 slots. Wear one on your back and everyone sees it. Set it down and it becomes a block anyone can open. Slot pack augments into its two to five augment slots and it turns into a one-block field station that smelts, cooks, services your gun, treats your wounds and warns you when the infected close in, or into worn kit that feeds your reloads, keeps you hydrated and quiets your footsteps.
It is storage with rules. A pack opens only when worn or placed, you can carry one at a time, nothing nests inside it, and a pack worn in its own back slot drops with you when you die. Storage is a survival pressure, not a menu you open by reflex.
It comes with:
- Four tiers: Iron, Gold, Diamond, Netherite, upgraded in the crafting grid with contents kept 🎒
- Its own back slot and a Carry Pack Gear screen, so a pack is wearable with nothing else installed 👕
- 18 pack augments: eight station modules, nine pieces of worn kit and Hardened Shell 🧰
- A placed pack that unfolds into a field station: furnace, stove, gunsmith, ammo press, medic, alarm, lock, recall anchor 🔥
- Sort, Matched push and Matched pull buttons for fast inventory management 📦
- Fully standalone: every integration is optional and found at runtime 🔌
🎒 Four tiers, one pack

- Iron Carry Pack: 54 slots, 2 augment slots. Leather ringed by eight iron ingots.
- Gold Carry Pack: 81 slots, 3 augment slots. The iron pack ringed by eight gold ingots.
- Diamond Carry Pack: 108 slots, 4 augment slots. The gold pack ringed by eight diamonds.
- Netherite Carry Pack: 120 slots, 5 augment slots. The diamond pack plus one netherite ingot. The item is fire-resistant.
Upgrading keeps storage, augments, furnace and stove progress, cooldowns and the custom name. The pack screen widens its grid to fit a big pack in your window and has Sort (merge and order), Matched push (inventory stacks whose item is already in the pack go in, hotbar excluded) and Matched pull (tops up the stacks you carry). Contents live on the item, shulker-style, and are never shown to other players: they see only the tier and a used / total / augments summary.
📜 The rules
- Opens when worn or placed. Press Y to open the pack on your back, or right-click it on the ground. Under Realism (the default) a pack in a loose inventory slot says Wear it or set it down.
- One pack per player. You cannot pick up a second pack while one is on your person. Placed packs do not count.
- Nothing nests. No packs, shulker boxes, ender chests or written books inside a pack, and a pack will not go into a shulker box or bundle.
- Hoppers and pipes cannot touch a placed pack. It moves items; it is not a machine port.
- No rule ever deletes an item. A refused action says what to do instead.
Wear it in the mod's own back slot (the Pack button on your inventory screen, or sneak-use with the pack in hand). With Augment Protocol installed it also fits that mod's gear back slot, where it follows Augment's gear rules and stays with you on death; wearing it in the Carry Pack slot instead leaves the gear slot free for an elytra. With Curios installed, a back curio slot works too.
🔥 Set it down: the field station

Station augments work only while the pack is on the ground. That exposure is the price, and the Perimeter Alarm is the counterplay.
- Field Furnace: furnace slots in the station panel, smelting at blast-furnace speed; progress pauses when you pick the pack up.
- Field Stove: smoker recipes, and it purifies water with Legendary Survival Overhaul installed.
- Gunsmith Kit: clears a jam, removes fouling and restores 25% of your TaCZ gun's condition, on a 5-minute cooldown per pack. With Kaos Protocol it also opens the gun upgrade screen. This is the only field gun repair, and deliberately a partial one.
- Ammo Press: presses one batch of whichever TaCZ ammo is already in the pack, at TaCZ's own recipe cost, paid from the pack.
- Field Medic Kit: heals you and, with Legendary Survival Overhaul, every body part, plus Regeneration, on a 4-minute cooldown.
- Perimeter Alarm: every second it outlines zombies and infected within 24 blocks in Glowing, and every five seconds sounds a quiet alarm and warns nearby players.
- Recall Anchor: the placed pack becomes a Recall destination for whoever set it down (Augment Protocol). Worn, it marks your body as a one-shot Recall target when you die.
- Owner Lock: only the player who set the pack down can open or break it.
- Technician: a 3×3 crafting grid with the recipe book that pulls ingredients from the pack. It works worn or placed, from the Craft button or its own key.
A placed pack with any augment slotted switches to the station model and glows; a burning furnace adds smoke, flame and crackle.
👕 Wear it: worn kit

Worn augments work on your back and never process items.
- Ammo Feed: TaCZ reloads draw from the pack after your gear ammo slots (needs Augment Protocol).
- Restock Clip: when a hotbar stack runs out, the first matching stack in the pack replaces it.
- Hydration Bladder: holds six drinks, refilled from purified water bottles in the pack; a Sip key drinks one (Legendary Survival Overhaul).
- Insulated Lining: thermal resistance (Legendary Survival Overhaul).
- Ballistic Panel: 30% less damage from hits that land on your back.
- Quiet Straps: your movement noise is multiplied by 0.6, which Outbreak Protocol's infected and Director both hear.
- Load Frame: +6% movement speed.
- Locator Tag: if the pack drops on death, you respawn with the coordinates in chat and a HUD arrow with the distance.
Any augment slotted gives the worn pack a technical shell with a pulsing glow that everyone can see. An augment whose supporting mod is missing shows Inert in its tooltip and does nothing.
💀 Death, and the Hardened Shell

A pack worn in the mod's own back slot is no death-proof vault: it drops with everything in it, into a Corpse body if you run one, unless keepInventory is on. Hardened Shell, the one always-on augment, spends a slot to insure the rest: a dropped pack with it cannot be destroyed by lava, fire, explosions, cactus or anvils, never despawns, floats in lava and stops at the bottom of the world instead of falling into the void. Placed, it is blast-proof against explosions, withers and the dragon; players can still break it.
🧩 Server config
world/serverconfig/fok_carry_pack-server.toml: realismEnabled (true: open only when worn or placed), the alarm radius, the Gunsmith Kit cooldown and repair fraction, the medic cooldown and heal amount, bladder capacity, the ballistic, noise, speed and insulation values. Every augment number is a key; the Realism flag is a switch.
✅ Requirements
- Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47 or newer. No required dependencies.
- Optional, detected at runtime: Augment Protocol (gear back slot, Recall Anchor, Ammo Feed, Tactical HUD readout), TaCZ (Gunsmith Kit, Ammo Press, Ammo Feed), Legendary Survival Overhaul (bladder, lining, medic body parts), Kaos Protocol (jams, fouling and the upgrade screen), Outbreak Protocol (Quiet Straps) and Curios (a back slot).
- Install on both the client and the server.
Part of Federation Of Kaos
Carry Pack is the only backpack in the Federation Of Kaos modpack, a post-apocalypse survival shooter where scarcity comes from the world, not the workbench. It rides in Augment Protocol's back slot, services Kaos Protocol's dying guns in the field, and its Quiet Straps are heard by Outbreak Protocol's infected. It was split out of those mods so it can be installed on its own, and it is free to use in your modpack.
