Description

The board posts a name. You run it down. Back out, and it runs you down.
Kaos Hunter adds a hunt loop: thirteen named, human-shaped elite NPCs, the marks, roam the world. A world-global Bounty Board posts three of them per tier as contracts. Take one and the mark keeps wandering hundreds of blocks away while you track it down with Tracking Beacons, an Intel Report, your Bounty Poster and Augment Protocol's Bounty Tracker. Kill it for Kaos Credits, collect HunterPack parts toward an elite augment, hang the BEAT! poster on your wall. Cancel the contract, and the mark comes for you.
You are a bounty hunter in a world that already wants you dead. Marks never scale with player count, difficulty or time: each tier has a fixed statline, and every ability shows a tell first.
It comes with:
- 13 named marks in three tiers: Normal, Elite and Legendary, each with a weapon class, a signature and a fixed statline 🎯
- The Bounty Board: a 2×2 wall panel with nine postings, wanted posters, co-op contracts and a Broker tab 📋
- Ghost marks that keep wandering while unloaded, so a contract is a real hunt across the map 👻
- Tracking Beacons, the Intel Report and the Bounty Poster readout 📡
- Payback: cancel a contract and the mark hunts you until one of you is dead ☠️
- Wild marks that sometimes find you on their own 🌲
- Nine HunterPack parts that build an elite augment, and the Underground Market credit sink 🧰
- Beaten posters for your wall and a win/loss record against every name 🏆
🎯 Thirteen marks, three tiers, one build lock each

Marks are player-shaped, a little larger than you, with a name tag in their tier colour. Normal marks (green) wear iron and carry plasma-tier I weapons with 40 HP. Elite marks (aqua) wear diamond, carry tier II and have 60 HP and one ability. Legendary marks (gold) wear netherite, carry tier III and have 80 HP and two abilities. They never drop their weapons or armour.
Each weapon class demands a role, and a mark beats the wrong build on the mechanic, not the HP bar:
- Bow marks keep 12 to 20 blocks, strafe, flip direction every second or two and never stand still. Their plasma bolts burn. Bring cover discipline, a Personal Shield, a firearm or Plasma Shot.
- Crossbow marks fire a three-bolt burst every four seconds, then walk backward through a two-second reload. Read the burst, push on the reload.
- Sword marks sprint in, dash at 4 to 7 blocks, and hit with fire and knockback. Bring mobility: Dash, Double Jump, a Jetpack, a Knockback Stabilizer.
Every ability has a tell: Shield pop (a blue flash, then 10 absorption at 30% health, once per life), Blink (an ender-pearl sound, then a short teleport after taking three hits in two seconds) and the elite bow's smoke tell before a boosted volley. Nothing stuns or roots you. Every mark retreats and heals once per life when nobody is close. Dex Harrow kites, Ilsa Vance climbs to high ground, Cutter Bram breaks wooden doors, The Ferryman fights from the water's edge, Halloran Dusk flanks after every burst.
📋 The Bounty Board

The Bounty Board is a craftable 2×2 wall panel (four iron, two redstone, a glass pane, a copper ingot and smooth stone) that lists the world's nine postings, three per tier, with rewards and status. Every board in the world shows the same nine cards: boards are terminals, not sources, so a second board at a forward base is a convenience rather than a second economy.
- Click a card for its WANTED poster: the mark's skin, reward, tier and weapon, signature, abilities, your record against that name, and Accept contract. A contract can only be taken from here.
- Taking one closes the board with a CONTRACT TAKEN banner and a Bounty Poster in your hand: an eight-way bearing and a distance band, refreshed every five seconds. Your first contract also hands you four Tracking Beacons.
- A contract HUD plate shows the mark, its last-seen bearing and band, a health bar once it is hurt, and the pay.
- Co-op: more than one player may hold the same posting. On a credited kill, every holder within 64 blocks is paid in full and rolls their own part.
- One contract per player at a time. A cleared card stays cleared; a tier refills only when all three of its cards are cleared, and a cleared name rests for two in-game days. There is no timed refresh, so the board cannot be farmed by waiting.
Rewards: 100 ₭ for a Normal contract, 250 ₭ for an Elite, 500 ₭ for a Legendary, plus 50 ₭ the first time you clear each name and 100 ₭ for the kill that clears a whole tier. A paid kill puts a BOUNTY CLEARED banner on screen with the credits counting up in gold. A mark lost to lava, a Brute or the void pays nothing, and it comes back five minutes later.
📡 The hunt
![]()
A contract mark starts 400 to 900 blocks away and keeps wandering as a ghost while nobody is near: the board remembers its position, waypoint and health. When you come within 96 blocks it materialises out of sight with the health it had, so leaving a wounded mark and coming back ten minutes later finds it still wounded, somewhere else.
- Tracking Beacons (Broker only, 30 ₭ for four) climb, hang glowing so you can spot them, ping, then fly the bearing to your mark. Within 64 blocks they glide in over it. They never point at wild or payback marks.
- An Intel Report (Broker, 40 ₭, once per contract) names the mark's 256-block region, and with Xaero's maps installed offers a one-click waypoint.
- Augment Protocol's Bounty Tracker augment tracks your mark at 16, 32 or 64 blocks by tier, with a health bar and ability warnings. Marks are signal-masked: the Hunter augment never sees them and Hostile Radar only within 16 blocks, so the tracker is the only long-range read.
☠️ Payback

Cancel a contract and, if you were its last holder, the card flips to PAYBACK: the mark closes on you at three times its wandering speed, pausing only while you are offline. It appears only when you are outdoors, out of sight and outside any Perimeter Beacon dome, 48 to 80 blocks away, no more than once every five minutes, and torches do not deter it. It locks onto you from 64 blocks regardless of stealth. You cannot take another contract until one of you is dead. Killing it pays no credits and drops only a couple of common items, with a small chance of an armour piece no better than diamond. Payback survives logout and restarts.
Wild marks sometimes find you too: at most one per dimension, 40 to 64 blocks away, out of sight and in the dark, with tier odds weighted by your armour. Torches and Perimeter Beacon domes keep them off.
🧰 The HunterPack and the Underground Market

Every paid contract kill drops one of nine HunterPack parts, banded by tier: Harness Frame and two Servos from Normal marks, Thruster Core, Fuel Cell and Gyro Stabiliser from Elites, Optic Array, Signal Processor and Kaos Cipher from Legendaries. Wild marks drop one 1% of the time. All nine make a HunterPack Chassis; the chassis plus Hunter III, Jetpack III and Terrain Assist II makes the HunterPack: an elite Augment Protocol augment that is Hunter III, Jetpack III, Terrain Assist II and Bounty Tracker II in a single passive slot. It needs netherite qualification, consumes the three augments, and cannot sit beside them. A consolidation, not a stat boost: it frees two passive slots for an airborne recon build.
The board's Broker tab (powered by the Credits mod) sells Tracking Beacons, blank posters and Intel Reports, stims and charges behind reputation gates and daily stock, a Vaccine Injector when Outbreak Protocol is installed, and any part of a band once you have cleared enough contracts of that tier. It buys duplicate parts back at a third of the price, so three duplicates fund one chosen part. With Pocket Domain installed it also sells that mod's three domain cores.
The Underground Market is a craftable wall terminal (iron, redstone, an ender pearl, a chest and an Intel Report, so the first market costs a cleared contract) that spends credits on raw materials, never on power: seeds, saplings and bone meal from the start; leather, honey, slime, Ender Pearls, Phantom Membranes and amethyst after three contracts; Blaze Rods, Nether Wart, soul sand, Magma Cream, glowstone, quartz and a Ghast Tear after six including an Elite; Echo Shards and Sculk Sensors after nine including a Legendary. Every row has a daily per-player limit, and the Market buys nothing back. It never sells gear, ammo, parts, kits, armour, augments, metals, gunpowder, diamonds or netherite.
🏆 Beaten posters and your record
Marks never really die; a cleared name rests and returns. So a clear is remembered. Every paid holder's Bounty Poster is stamped BEAT! with the date and world day, and a beaten poster can be hung on a wall as a 1×2 paper panel showing the mark, the stamp and your record. Every player keeps a win/loss record against each name: a win for the last hitter and every paid holder, a loss when the mark kills you. It shows on poster tooltips, the board's detail page and hung posters. Nothing is paid or gated on it.
🛠 Commands and config
- /fokhunter (operators): the roster, spawning, placement checks, the board, contracts, ghosts, payback, banner previews, record and beaten.

Part of Federation Of Kaos
Kaos Hunter is the bounty half of the work loop in the Federation Of Kaos modpack, a post-apocalypse survival shooter. Its contracts are the first thing that pays Kaos Credits, its board hosts Kaos Missions' Missions tab, its marks fight with Augment Protocol's plasma weapons and drop Kaos Protocol's gun parts, and its Broker sells the Pocket Domain cores. It also ships a public API that sibling quest mods use to add board tabs, aim beacons and send marks after players. The board is optional: nothing else in the pack gates on it. You are welcome to include it in your modpack.
