Description

Mebahel's Creatures - Dwarven Automatons

Ancient Dwemer machinery is active once again. Deep underground, and even beyond the Overworld, long-abandoned automatons still patrol the ruins left behind by their creators.

Mebahel's Creatures - Dwarven Automatons adds a complete faction of mechanical enemies inspired by Dwemer technology from The Elder Scrolls. Each automaton has its own combat behavior, animations, strengths, and role. The mod also adds Dwarven equipment, summoning staves, new structures, building blocks, and a progression system centered around exploring ancient ruins and recovering Dwemer technology.

Fabric

The Bestiary

The mod adds several Dwarven automatons, each with its own role in combat:

Creature Role
Dwarven Spider A small and agile automaton that quickly closes the distance and attacks intruders.
Dwarven Spider Guardian A more durable variant of the Dwarven Spider with additional health and a more persistent combat behavior.
Dwarven Sphere A versatile automaton that travels in a compact form before deploying into combat.
Dwarven Centurion A powerful boss-tier construct that relies on heavy melee attacks, steam, and high durability.

Combat and AI

Dwarven automatons use custom behavior rather than relying only on standard Minecraft mob AI.

  • Transformation states - Dwarven Spheres switch between their compact movement form and their combat form depending on the situation.
  • Steam attacks - Dwarven Centurions can use steam-based attacks alongside their heavy melee abilities.
  • Combat positioning - Automatons use custom movement logic to approach, reposition around, or maintain distance from their target when appropriate.
  • Custom animations - GeckoLib is used for movement, attacks, transformations, and other mechanical animations.

Technology and Engineering

Exploring Dwarven ruins provides materials and equipment that can be used throughout the mod.

  • Dwemer Metal Ingots - The main crafting material, obtained from Dwarven scrap found in ruins or dropped by automatons.
  • Dwarven Equipment - Weapons and armor based on classic Dwemer designs.
  • Dwarven Summoning Staves - Special staves inspired by Skyrim that can summon a Dwarven Spider or Dwarven Sphere companion to fight alongside you.
  • Mechanical Components - Gears, cores, and other components used in Dwarven crafting recipes.
  • Building Materials - Metallic and industrial blocks for building your own Dwemer-inspired structures.

Structures

Several Dwarven ruins can generate throughout the world, each with its own layout, enemies, and loot.

End Dwarven Observatory

A rare Dwarven observatory found in the End. These abandoned facilities were built to study the dimension, its inhabitants, and its unusual environment.

Their creators are long gone, but the automatons left behind still patrol the structure. Exploring an observatory can reward players with valuable loot and mechanical components.

Blackreach

A large underground area containing the remains of a Dwarven city. Blackreach is one of the most dangerous locations in the mod, with a high concentration of automatons and valuable resources.

Raldbthar

A medium-sized Dwarven ruin made up of mechanical halls, industrial areas, traps, and active guardian units. It serves as a more accessible introduction to Dwarven exploration before tackling larger locations.

Shared Loot System

Dwarven structures use the custom chest system provided by Mebahel's API.

  • Each player can receive their own independent loot from the same chest.
  • Loot is generated separately for each player.
  • Chests use custom mechanical animations.
  • The system is designed to keep structure exploration rewarding in multiplayer.

Current Status and Credits

The mod is still in active development, with additional content and improvements planned over time.

All creature animations use GeckoLib and were created by @malfu.

Some structures are based on builds by fonta59 - Skyrim in Minecraft, used with permission.
