Mebahel's Elder Scrolls Core
Bring Elder Scrolls alchemy, soul magic, and Standing Stone blessings to Minecraft with iconic ingredients, powerful potions, weapon coatings, and craftable Soul Gems.
Mebahel's Elder Scrolls Core adds a growing collection of plants, alchemical materials, and magical systems inspired by the Elder Scrolls series. Harvest familiar ingredients, brew potions with paired beneficial and harmful effects, coat weapons and tools, trap the souls of defeated creatures, and discover Standing Stones throughout the world. Every feature is designed to fit naturally into Minecraft's existing exploration, brewing, crafting, and combat systems.

Alchemical Ingredients
Most ingredients can be brewed from an Awkward Potion. The combined Nirnroot potion is created by adding either Nirnroot to a potion made from the other. Redstone Dust creates an extended variant, while Glowstone Dust creates a shorter but stronger variant whenever an upgraded effect is available.
Ingredient properties are discovered separately for each player, inspired by Skyrim's alchemy system. An undiscovered ingredient hides both of its effects behind question marks and does not reveal the potion it creates. Eating an ingredient grants one of its two effects for 5 seconds, with an equal 50% chance for either property, and reveals that property if it was still unknown. Ingredients provide 0.5 hunger and 0.5 saturation when eaten.
Brewing and collecting an ingredient's potion reveals both properties at once. Discoveries are saved with the player and remain known after death, reconnecting, or restarting the server. Recipe viewers such as EMI and JEI can still show that a brewing recipe exists, but its potion name and effects remain hidden until the relevant properties have been discovered.
| Ingredient | Potion effects |
|---|---|
| Crimson Nirnroot | Invisibility and Strength |
| Nirnroot | Invisibility and Resistance |
| Crimson Nirnroot + Nirnroot | Invisibility, Strength, and Resistance |
| Dwarven Oil | Haste and short-duration Weakness |
| Ectoplasm | Regeneration and Slow Falling |
| Glowing Mushroom | Night Vision and short-duration Nausea |
| Fire Salt | Fire Resistance and short-duration Regeneration |
| Hanging Moss | Absorption and Strength |
| Deathbell | Poison and Slowness |
All potions added by the mod have a distinctive enchanted glint and are available as regular, splash, and lingering potions, as well as tipped arrows where supported by Minecraft.
Elder Scrolls Flora
The ingredients are represented by plants and natural blocks designed for Elder Scrolls-inspired environments:
- Nirnroot : Listen for its distinctive resonance while exploring riverbanks, lakeshores, and other wet areas.
- Crimson Nirnroot : A rarer relative found around water in deep underground environments.
- Deathbell : A distinctive bell-shaped flower commonly found near graves and burial grounds.
- Glowing Mushroom : A luminous fungus growing across walls in dark, damp caves.
- Hanging Moss : Found on cave ceilings, where it grows downward like cave vines. It grows ten times more slowly and cannot be accelerated with Bone Meal.
Weapon Coatings
Turn poison and Instant Damage potions into temporary weapon coatings instead of drinking them.
After selecting a valid potion, choose a weapon or tool from your inventory. The coating is stored directly on the item and its tooltip displays the remaining charges, applied effects, and effect duration. Each direct hit consumes one charge and applies the coating after Minecraft's normal attack processing, preserving critical hits and compatibility with other combat behavior.
Applying another coating replaces the previous one. The number of charges is calculated from the potion's effects and duration, with separate balancing for Instant Damage potions.
Soul Gems and Soul Trap
The rare Soul Trap enchantment can appear on swords, axes, bows, crossbows, and tridents, with a maximum level of III. Hitting a creature marks its soul for 10 seconds per enchantment level. If it dies before the effect expires, its soul is transferred into a Soul Gem in the attacker's inventory.
Four Soul Gem tiers provide increasing capacity:
- Lesser Soul Gem : 80 souls.
- Common Soul Gem : 160 souls.
- Greater Soul Gem : 320 souls.
- Sublime Soul Gem : 640 souls.
Lesser Soul Gems are crafted from Amethyst Shards, Lapis Lazuli, and a Clay Ball. Each higher tier upgrades the previous gem using progressively rarer materials, including Prismarine Crystals, Crying Obsidian, Amethyst Blocks, Sculk, and Ghast Tears. Upgrading a Soul Gem preserves its current charge.
Charged Soul Gems can repair damaged items included in the mebahelelderscrollscore:soul_rechargeable item tag. Each soul repairs one point of durability, and the gem's tooltip shows its current and maximum charge. The repair interface supports separate confirmation settings for selecting a gem and choosing the item to repair.
Standing Stones
Standing Stone structures generate throughout the Overworld and grant permanent blessings through an Elder Scrolls-inspired interaction screen. A player may have only one blessing at a time; accepting another automatically replaces the previous one. Blessings persist through death, reconnecting, and server restarts.
Six Standing Stones are available:
- The Lover : Increases maximum health.
- The Warrior : Adds melee attack damage.
- The Ranger : Adds ranged attack damage.
- The Thief : Increases movement speed while sneaking.
- The Strider : Increases step height, allowing taller blocks to be climbed without jumping.
- The Traveler : Increases movement speed while not sneaking.
Their effects are configurable, allowing modpack creators to rebalance every blessing independently.

- Adjust charges based on effect duration.
- Configure minimum and maximum charges.
- Balance Instant Damage charges.
- Apply a global charge multiplier.
- Configure coating effect durations for regular, extended, and enhanced potions.
- Decide whether coating menus pause the game.

Soul capture and Soul Gem repair behavior is controlled through:
config/mebahelelderscrollscore/soul_trap.json
The configuration lets modpack creators:
- Set a default soul value for creatures.
- Override the soul value of individual entity types.
- Decide whether Soul Gem repair menus pause the game.
- Enable or disable each repair confirmation popup independently.
Standing Stone blessings are controlled through:
config/mebahelelderscrollscore/standing_stones.json
