Shield 'n Parry Mod

This mod makes combat require a higher amount of skill while still letting new pvp-ers have a chance. Learn to parry attacks, bash with your shield, and reflect projectiles.

So, What's Actually New?

1. Weapon Parrying

Press R (configurable) with a weapon just before an attack hits you.

  • Perfect timing blocks damage and staggers the attacker
  • Weapon matters: Faster weapons = tighter timing windows, faster cooldown recharge
  • Feels badass: Screen effects, sounds, and knockback when you nail it
  • Fail? You get slowed down briefly. Practice makes perfect.

Example of Parrying

2. Shield Bashing

Put up your shield, then hold the parry key.

  • Charge forward and knock enemies back
  • The longer you hold, the harder the impact
  • Applies slowness to anything you hit
  • Works with any shield (vanilla or modded)

Example of Shield Bashing

3. Projectile Reflection

Time a parry right as an arrow or fireball reaches you.

  • Deflects it back at the shooter
  • Gains extra power on the return trip
  • Works with most modded projectiles automatically
  • Extremely satisfying (and extremely hard) when you reflect a skeleton's own arrows

Example of Arrow Parrying

AND YES YOU CAN PARRY FALL DAMAGE!!!

Example of Parrying Fall Damage

Extra Stuff & Compatibility

  • Three new enchantments:
    • Parry Recovery (less cooldown)
    • Parry Window (easier timing)
    • Guarding Lunge (stronger bashes)
  • Special compatibility with CombatRoll mod: Successful parries refill your dodge charges
  • Fully configurable: Turn features on/off, blacklist certain attacks
  • No performance hit: Efficient code that doesn't lag your game
  • COMPLETELY INCOMPATIBLE FUNCTIONALLY with Tactical Shield Overhaul!!!

You are allowed to use this in modpacks, make videos about it, or add any new compat addons to it.

If you run into bugs or crashes, let me know on Discord: lynxomancer
