About

Description

SRP&Wiz mixins is a small companion mod for Scape and Run: Parasites 1.10.7. It adds no items, no blocks, no entities and no recipes — just a set of targeted fixes for problems I kept hitting while building a heavy SRP modpack.

Every fix ships turned OFF. Freshly installed, this mod does nothing at all. Turn on only what you need, in config/srpwizmixins.cfg. Every option can be toggled while the game is running — none of them need a restart.

It has no dependency on my content mod — any SRP pack can use it on its own.

The fixes

Stop parasites vanishing at the population cap

When a dimension holds too many parasites, SRP deletes some of them to get back under its cap. It does not check whether a parasite was meant to stay, so a Beckon or a Nexus you were in the middle of fighting can simply disappear.

With the cap-purge fix on, Beckons and Nexuses are never deleted this way, and no parasite is deleted while it is close to a player. Two separate radii let you tune that: a smaller one for ordinary parasites and a wider one for Beckons and Nexuses. Parasites far from everyone are still removed, so the cap still does its job where nobody is looking.

Make per-dimension starting points actually work

SRP lets you give a dimension a head start by writing dimension;phase;points in its config. On 1.10.7 the points part is thrown away, so every new dimension silently falls back to the global default instead — you set 600 million and get −300.

This writes the configured value when the dimension is first created. Set it up in SRP's own config; this only makes that setting stick.

Thread safety, if you run a threading mod

Two related fixes, both needed if you run EntityThreading or anything similar.

SRP keeps each dimension's evolution points and phase in lists that are not safe to write from two threads at once. A parasite ticked on a worker thread can corrupt them, and you end up with wrong phases or points that jump around. The first fix hands those writes back to the main thread, where they land a fraction of a second later instead of corrupting anything.

The second covers the moment SRP's save data is first created — that code is not thread-safe either, and two threads creating it at once either lose every point written into the discarded copy, or damage the world's save-data list badly enough to cut the world save short.

If you run a threading mod and have parasites unlocked in more than one dimension, treat both of these as required.

Per-dimension population caps

SRP's parasite cap is a single global number, so a dedicated parasite dimension and your home dimension have to share it. This lets you give listed dimensions their own multiplier — below 1 lowers the cap, above 1 raises it.

Infestation spread throttle

Infestation blocks do their full spreading work on nearly every block tick — around a thousand times a second in a developed infestation — and in a heavily infested world that is one of the biggest tick costs in the game.

The throttle divides both the speed and the cost: 2 is half speed, 4 is quarter speed. The creep still spreads and still looks the same, it just takes longer. Throttle it rather than turning it off — the creep is the atmosphere.

Skip doomed point updates

Those same infestation blocks constantly ask SRP to add evolution points. In a dimension where parasites cannot gain points, every one of those requests is rejected — but only after SRP has done all the work of computing and logging it. This checks first. The result is identical to unmodified SRP, it just costs less.

Diagnostics

Optional logging for two things that are otherwise very hard to trace: what actually removed a Beckon or Nexus, and how each dimension's evolution points were set up at world load. Very noisy — for investigating a specific problem, not for normal play.

Compatibility

  • Built and tested against SRParasites 1.10.7 (community build). Other SRP versions are not supported — these patches target specific internals.
  • Needs MixinBooter, or run on Cleanroom.
  • Works with or without my content mod, Insane Tweaks SRP&Wizardry. If you are coming from Insane Tweaks 1.2.0, these fixes used to live inside that jar; this is the same code, moved out so packs that only want the parasite fixes do not have to ship a content mod. Your old srpCompat settings now live in srpwizmixins.cfg.

Credits

  • Dhanantry and the SRP team — Scape and Run: Parasites.
  • CleanroomMC — modern mixin support on 1.12.2.
  • Ported and extended from the ideas in SRPMixins 2.9.5, which targets SRP 1.9.21.
