So, What is The Ultimate Unicorn Mod?
It is a mod for Minecraft 1.7.10 and above. It puts into your game 7 new magical horse types (Unicorn, Pegasus, Nightmare, Destrier, Hippocamp, Kirin, and Reindeer - see below for details) and many new items, including magic wands, horseshoes, horse helms, pegasus wingtips, and more. Some of these items can be equipped to the different magical horses and give them extra magical abilities (and believe it or not, some they can use themselves)!
What Makes the New Horses Special?
These magical horses are more than just your ordinary Minecraft mobs. They come with extra behaviors (just try to tame that pegasus without thinking, and see where it gets you), they have extra equipment and inventory slots, they can fight with or without their rider, and they can have children!
And this isn't just your simple Minecraft horse breeding - these magical horses have DNA, and can pass on all or some of their traits to their children! Want a flying horse with a unicorn horn? Breed a pegasus and a unicorn! Want a huge horse with flaming hooves? Breed a destrier and a nightmare! Want a horse with ALL the traits?! Well, you can get that too! Just keep breeding... but you might want a DNA tester to make your job easier.
And if you're a master breeder, maybe you can find some of the secret mutant magical horse breeds... otherwise known as Ultimate Unicorns.

DNA Testing Our DNA Tester tells us that the horse we are planning to breed has one Horn gene (H), one Big Wing gene (B), one Aura gene (A). Its hide genes are one Unicorn Hide gene (u) and one Pegasus Hide gene (p). (See yellow arrows) -

Flinging Fireballs With his tiny wings, you'd think the Nightmare's wing buffet would be underpowered. Those wings can't push as well as a pegasus's, but when near any fire, they harness the fire and fling fireballs! -
Blazing a trail Upon landing with my Nightmare, I looked back to see the trail we'd blazed across the sky. -
Slotted Wand Attack With a Wand of Call Lightning in a Slotted Helm, your unicorn can call down lightning when he lowers his horn to attack! You can make him do it by hitting the 'F' when mounted. He will do it on his own if not ridden and an enemy approaches! -
Making a Fashion Statement TNT on a unicorn horn? Slotted Helms let you stick anything on your horse's head as a fashion accessory. -
Ice Horseshoes Ice Horseshoes turn water your horse walks on into ice. -
Wing Buffet Attack Riding a pegasus, performing a wing buffet attack to push some pigs into a corner. The unicorn is equipped with Wingtips of Buffeting for extra wind power. -
Destrier & Pegasus A destrier with a nearby pegasus (with its wings folded up). This is a pretty good shot showing a size comparison of the two horse types. -

Rainbow Smash From the back of a mutant breed, Rainbow Smash (you can get one by crossbreeding unicorns, pegasi, nightmares, and destriers). -
Nightmare A nightmare creates fire wherever it walks (but the default fire doesn't spread and doesn't burn you unless you change a setting). -
Destrier & Pegasus A destrier (a large, powerful warhorse) and a pegasus. -
Wing Buffet This rider is making their pegasus perform a wing buffet attack on some pigs. Wing buffeting is a kind of attack in which a winged horse flaps its wings at an enemy, blowing it back and possibly damaging it. -
Nightmare fire trail Nightmares even leave trails of fire in the air you fly them through. -
