The game is definitely hard to start, and I will admit that. But even though it is challenging, I think it is genuinely good. The world is made well, the systems are interesting, and when you finally find a village it feels rewarding.

However, the early progression is extremely tough for beginners. Most of the bounties feel completely random, and half the time there is no monster nearby that matches the contract. On top of that, the Witcher Silver Sword and Steel Sword currently behave like normal swords. They do not deal extra damage to monsters or humans, which removes a big part of what makes Witcher combat feel unique.

I also think we really need more inventory space or at least a safe haven for each Witcher school where you can store items, get starting gear, upgrade your equipment, and have a clear goal to work toward. Right now everything is random, and while that randomness is fun, it slows progression to a crawl.

Some features that would greatly improve the experience:

Extra horse storage which is essential for long hunts

Witcher treasure hunts similar to the actual games

Proper Silver and Steel sword scaling so they can reach Mastercrafted or Grandmaster levels

Set bonuses and perks for wearing full Witcher gear

School specific skill trees to give players identity and direction

Safe havens for each school to act as a home base and progression hub

Despite the difficulty, I genuinely love what is here. The mod is made with care, and the foundation is strong. My feedback is not meant to be negative. It is honest advice from someone who wants to see this become even better.

PS: I rated everything 5 stars except progression. I am not talking badly about the mod at all. This is simply a sincere review.

It's nice to play a pack that actually fits together and isn't just a kitchen sink pack with a few quests glued on

I absolutely loved the Witcher franchise, so I have been following this mod pack ever since. The great mechanic use of the silver swords being more of a requirement to kill monsters from the betweenlands as the mod pack allows for mobs from betweenlands to spawn in the overworld. Music choice is great. However, one issue I have with this mod pack is that it uses vanilla world generations. We still get new biomes and such but the world generation could use something a lil more unique as the witcher game wasn't just about hunting monsters but explorations and taking in the scenery, same with the villages. I understand this mod pack was built for low-end PC and laptop users, I used to be a potato user when I played this mod pack and it was great, especially with the most recent updates. Still give it a try though. I'm just glad there is a witcher themed mod pack and hopefully, there'll be more in the future but for newer version of mc, I doubt it could beat this mod pack by zonko. A fabric witcher modpack sounds cursed but ay performance amirite.

I highly suggest Bisect Hosting For servers as it has helped me so much.

The code to get 25% off on your first month of a server is HMONSTERS

Requirements: Lower-end PCs can run it.

(minimum of 2GB of allocated ram).  For singleplayer, dont allocate more than 5-6GB of ram as more ram than required actually lowers performance.

Server Stats: Its maximum stress is around 20 players, but Hunting Monsters is best played with a group of 4-10 friends, not because of server performance but because of balancing and world resources, but mega servers have been successful in the past as well.

What is Hunting Monsters: The Witcher Modpack?

Hunting Monsters is a modpack inspired by The Witcher games, books, and TV show.  There is little intertwining or canon lore with Andrzej Sapkowski's work except for the school names and monster names.  This modpack is a standalone universe with completely new characters, world rules, and lore, but it is more fun when you have background knowledge on The Witcher.

You, the players, are Witchers who are hired to hunt monsters for rewards.  This modpack is highly recommended to players who have never played a modpack before.

Contents

-This is a dark epic, and more unforgiving to those who do not prepare compared to vanilla but not nearly as tough as RLCraft..  The invisible hand will not lead you.

-Completely custom-made content meant for the modpack

-Over 250 mob hunting quests and almost 300 naturally generating structures built by friends and I using Pillar mod

Community-Textured Bestiary

Witcher Schools and Their Armor

Custom-made Witcher Signs mod

Faq

Q: Why are a lot of bigger mods missing like Ice and Fire or Twilight Forest?

A: I know a lot of people in my area with PC's/Laptops that can't handle big modpacks so I want to have something they can play and enjoy.  Plus those mods are kinda overrated.

Q: What is the difference between a Steel Sword and a Silver Sword?

A: A Steel Sword has a yellow name and lets you kill common monsters.  A Silver Sword has a blue name and can kill Betweenlands mobs, since those mobs spawn in the Overworld.
