I love to see a pack with a clear vision, and here we certainly have one. Tailored to suit the wants of a sailor, living on a boat included. Your ship is your spawn-point, your method of travel, and once youre advanced enough, even your base of operations. The pack has a unique start to the progression where your immediate goal is to build a proper ship, which I really like.
There is a strong visual identity, made up of a borderlands-esque outline to the world and an interesting font choice (although the font size is a bit small for readability).

  • Screenshot 1: Sail the Seas (landlubbers beware)
Even the nether is a lava sea!

Description

Spectral Seas Logo

Spectral Seas is a survival and exploration-focused modpack full of swashbuckling, scoundrels, and assorted derring-do. Board your hand-built ship in search of fortune, led by strange fate to the darkest depths of the sea… and below.

The Situation

You met your Grandad but once, but his colorful garb, theatrical mannerisms, and wild tales of life on the open sea left a permanent impression. Father always spoke disdainfully of the old man, but this did nothing to dim your fascination. When dad passed on, he left you a modest inheritance and an exceedingly dull family business. It was no surprise when you sold off the enterprise and joined a merchant crew as a deckhand.

In retrospect, it should also have been no surprise when the ship was set upon by pirates and you were hurled overboard in shark-infested waters.

You very nearly drowned, and now you've washed ashore upon an unknown island, with nothing but a bundle of rations, your Grandad's nasty old cutlass, and a tattered book that a sailor thrust in your hand shortly after the ship left port.

It will be dark sooner than you know, and you're getting hungry. Hopefully some trace of Grandad's intrepid spirit will keep you alive long enough to get out of here.

Features

A Perilous Beginning: Start with a meager stash of supplies and your trusty parrot, and scramble to survive on an unknown island.

A World of Islands: Custom terrain generation that creates a world of deep, endless oceans dotted with islands of various sizes.

Sail the Infinite Seas: Launch your own ship onto unknown waters - and name it, decorate it, and upgrade it. Make landfall where you will, knowing your Antique Atlas will diligently mark your ship's mooring.

The Life Aquatic: Below the surface, the many waters teem with life - dazzling, ferocious, or unimaginable.

Scurrilous Pirates: Beware of pirate ships on the high seas - and their dangerous hideouts on the shores. Those who brave their hail of bullets may find their treasure worth the risk.

Forgotten Wonders : Isolated settlements, hushed ruins, and steadfast remnants of ages past await you on your voyage, hinted at by dusty maps and shadows in the fog. And deep beneath, a whole hidden world to discover.

Underworlds Unknown: Completely customized cave generation in the Overworld, and a Nether like you've never seen - a dark mirror of the Overworld with hellish islands floating in an endless sea of lava.

The Fine Print

Version 2.0.0 is here! It's even more adequate!

As always, this release comes with my personal guarantee: if it breaks in half, you get to keep both halves.

A World of Islands: Custom terrain generation that creates a world of deep, endless oceans dotted with islands of various sizes.

Sail the Infinite Seas: Build and sail a ship around the world - and name it, decorate it, and upgrade it. Never lose track of it - because a marker is automatically placed on the map when you disembark.

The Life Aquatic: Varied ocean biomes teeming with sea life - from sharks to squids…to stranger things.

Scurrilous Pirates: Beware of pirate ships on the high seas - and their dangerous hideouts on the shores. Those who brave their hail of bullets may find their treasure worth the risk.

Mysteries and Magic : A carefully curated collection of customized structures to explore, and many clues and custom map integrations to lead you to them. And beneath that, a whole hidden world to discover.

Underworlds Unknown: Completely customized cave generation in the Overworld, and a Nether like you've never seen - a dark mirror of the Overworld with hellish islands floating in an endless sea of lava.

The Fine Print

The pack has finally had an official 1.0.0 release. It's alive!
