What is it ?

This is a mod which aims at adding new and challenging illagers to encounter in the overworld and during raids.

What does it offer ?

New illagers to play around with in raids, which can also spawn naturally in the overworld. The mod also adds a few illager beast type mobs (similar to the ravager), which can also be tamed and brought to battle.
It also adds new materials and illager costumes which is quite nice.

In terms of flaws this mod has quite a bit of them :
The Blade Knight is basically a strong damage sponge , as he is not that interesting to fight and requires taking a lot of hits to kill which is really annoying in raids , and some of his abilities are awful : he can teleport you to him (which would be fine if he wasn't so resilient) and he can increase his stats permanently after mobs die around him (which is bound to happen in raids as villagers or illagers will die while this guy is still alive).
The beast tamer is also very infuriating , especially when other illagers are around, because sometimes he shoots arrows which give a potion effect preventing healing of any kind, which is too deadly even with full netherite enchanted with protection IV (and that is without taking into account the fact that he also always summons a dangerous beast which fights alongside him).

Aesthetically speaking this mod's mobs look pretty bland with the exception of the Blade Knight , and I have even noticed they have inconsistent textures : for example the beast tamer clearly has the 1.14+ texture style while the scavenger have the pixel art style of the programmer art textures from 1.12 and prior versions, so much so to the point I am questioning the origin of the art used in the mod. I have seen the Scavenger slide on the ground during a raid more than once I am not making this up it had little to no animation at all.

In terms of performances I haven't noticed any problem, that said many report crashes even in the latest version of the mod in the comments under the mod's original curseforge page, so this tells me this mod is likely also impacting the game in term of a lack of stability .

In conclusion

This mod adds in a few illagers to raids, but they are too challenging to the point where they are really unfair at times.
Unfortunately, this mod lacking a config file is a big con for it as some of the mobs are so hard to deal with that you can hardly combine this mod with basically any other raider mod .
For a one off challenge or to fill hordes with more enemies for something more specific it could have a use , but it is still a very bad mod that I would not recommend for any serious modpack.

Edit : I would like to mention that I have recently learned that this mod may or may not get a total rework of its code in the future; if that is the case, I will make sure it gets suggested here and I will review it when it eventually does get reworked/update this review if it is a replacement

It not only adds more enemies to the Villagers Raid, making them more challenging but also adds new pets, armors and weapons.

I really like this mod and I think it's a good addition especially if it is combined with other mods that also add new content for Illager Raids such as Dungeons Mobs or Savage & Ravage.

Description

📖About:

Illager Revolution is a mod focused on increasing the difficulty of minecraft and raids as a whole with new game mechanics, illagers, weapons, tools, armors, pets and much more, while still maintaining a vanilla aesthetic.

⚔️ New Mobs:

-Blade Knights are powerful foes that wield necromantic powers, they're able to turn the tides of a raid on their own.

-They curse anyone nearby, reanimating them once they die as undead followers.

-Depending on their inscribed runes they'll summon more illager zombies or fallen knights. You can tell what type of runes a Blade Knight's has by their sword's color.

-Fallen Knights can't be killed and will reconstruct themselves until their summoner is killed, or if defeated with the Smite enchantment.

-Zombie Illagers are mindless undead tougher than regular zombies, but not very formidable on their own.

-Blade Knight's can perform deadly combos at close quarters to annihilate their enemies, however most of them can be blocked

-Apart from their sword, Blade Knight's can use their horned helmet to disable shields.

-After performing too many combos they'll become briefly exhausted and vulnerable to attacks.

-When cursed enemies die around them their souls will be absorbed and increase the Blade Knight's damage permanently, so make sure to finish fights quickly!

-Soul Sages are experts in rune and soul magic, they can support their allies while still harming enemies with powerful spells.

-They rely on souls to use their spells and are vulnerable while they have none. You can tell how many they have by the orbs floating above them!

-When low on souls they can magically drain nearby enemies to regain health and souls, this however can be blocked with a shield.

-They can shield allies with temporary runic shields that will negate all damage taken and push the attacker away.

-When at a safe distance they'll launch any active souls at their enemies creating pillars of devastating soul fire that can shred through even the toughest of enemies. Make sure to move out of the way!

-Illager Miners are greedy cowards that dwell in caves, searching for resources. They will try and steal them from players and run away.

-Miners become invisible upon successfully stealing from a player, you can tell where they are by their constant laughs.

-They're not fighters and don't participate in raids or pose that much of a threat.

-Their Helmet can be charged with emeralds to gain Haste and Luck for a short time or Amethysts for invisibility and a burst of speed.

-Scavengers roam the badlands in search of scrap

-Scavengers can take chunks out of your armor and use that scrap to create makeshift armor.

-They can upgrade their armor up to 3 times, with the final one adding a set of dangerous thorns to it.

-Scavengers always carry sand in their pocket, which they can throw into their opponent's eyes to confuse them in the midst of battle.

-Their visors provide immunity to blindness and will highlight any hostile creatures in dark areas.

-Beast Tamers can be found in Jungle biomes and Village Raids, never going into battle without a beast at their side.

-When entering battle, they'll whistle summoning a beast to aid them.

-They can use Claw and Poison arrows to inflict Deep Wound and Poison to their enemies.

-Rakers are agile felines that can shred their prey and cause deep wounds with their claws.

-They can be tamed by feeding them a pufferfish if their health is low enough.

-Once Tamed, they're able to wear claw and body armor, increasing their damage and resistance respectively.

-Rakers will also leap at faraway targets, dealing damage and shortening distance.

-Like other illager beasts, you can put war paint on them with color dyes, they're also incapable of breeding so make sure to gear them up before taking them to battle.

-Maulers are rabid beasts that will chomp on enemies and maul them to death.

-If dealt enough damage they will go into a blind rage, making them extremely deadly and tough, however they can be stunned with a shield, ending their rage.

-Their bites can apply the Maul effect.

-They can be tamed by feeding them enough rotten flesh.

-Maulers are never satiated and will eat rotten flesh fed to them even if they're full.

-Once Tamed, they're able to wear body armor and be ridden, and commanded to go into rage by pressing the "secondary attack key".

-Tamed Maulers can also be commanded to maul any trapped prey in their mouth with the "special attack key"

-Like other illager beasts, you can put war paint on them with color dyes, they're also incapable of breeding so make sure to gear them up before taking them to battle.

-Scroungers are annoying little birds with piercing feathers, capable of hindering foes and helping allies.

-Every now and then they will spin throwing feathers to all targets around them.

-They can be tamed with fermented spider eyes if no Beast Tamers are around.

-Their feathers can be coated in harmful or beneficial potions, which they will use to help their owner in battle.

-Once Tamed, they can wear pouches to carry potions, and will dance when a jukebox is playing music.

-They can apply different effects by coating their feathers with the potions in their pouches.

-Like other illager beasts, you can put war paint on them with color dyes, they're also incapable of breeding so make sure to gear them up before taking them to battle.

-Wild Ravagers are young beasts slightly weaker than older ravagers due to their lack of training and combat experience.

-They can be tamed when stunned with a shield by feeding them hay bales.

-Once Tamed, they can wear body armor and be ridden.

-Although incapable of jumping, tamed Ravagers can be ordered to roar, pushing enemies and projectiles away by pressing "spacebar".

-They can perform a devastating charge that will push away anything in their path by pressing the "secondary attack key"

-If wearing war drums, they can be played by pressing the "special attack key", granting nearby players and beast beneficial effects depending on the chosen drum.

-Like other illager beasts, you can put war paint on them with color dyes, they're also incapable of breeding so make sure to gear them up before taking them to battle.
