Description

No More Jump Crit

This mod completely removes the vanilla Minecraft jump critical hit system and replaces it with a robust, attribute-based Critical Hit system compatible with other RPG mods.

Features

  1. Vanilla Jump Crit Removal: Jumping no longer guarantees a critical hit. The "magic particle" effect is removed from jump attacks.
  2. New Entity Attributes:
    • nomorejumpcrit:crit_chance: Determines the probability of landing a critical hit.
    • nomorejumpcrit:crit_damage: Determines the bonus damage dealt by critical hits.
    • nomorejumpcrit:crit_resistance: Reduces the chance of being critically hit.
    • nomorejumpcrit:crit_damage_resistance: Reduces the bonus damage taken from critical hits.
  3. Equipment Tier Caps: Your critical hit stats are limited by the quality of your equipment. Better gear allows for higher critical stats.
    • Weighted System: Main Hand weapon contributes 40% to the cap, and each armor piece contributes 15%.
    • Tiers:
      • Leather/Wood: Lowest cap
      • Chain/Stone: Low cap
      • Iron: Medium cap
      • Gold: High cap
      • Diamond: Higher cap
      • Netherite: Highest cap
  4. Smithing Table Reforging: Reforge your gear to reroll its stats.
    • Recipe: Template + Base Item + Addition (for example, Lapis)
    • Outcome: The same item with new randomized stats
    • Compatibility: Supports both vanilla and modded items

Mod Compatibility

This mod supports items from other mods automatically if they are included in standard tags.

To ensure your mod's items can be reforged and have stats generated, add them to the following tags:

  • #minecraft:swords
  • #minecraft:axes
  • #minecraft:trimmable_armor
  • #minecraft:shield

Alternatively, you can add specific items to the nomorejumpcrit:stats_allowed item tag.

Description This mod removes the vanilla jump critical hit mechanic from Minecraft. In the base game, jumping while attacking can trigger a critical hit that deals extra damage — however, this mechanic can feel clunky, inconsistent, or unwanted for some players or modded combat systems. This mod eliminates jump crits entirely, creating a more grounded and controllable combat experience.

Instead of relying on jump-based crits, this mod introduces two new attributes to enable a more modern and customizable critical hit system:

🗡️ Crit Chance: By default set to 0.05 (5%), this attribute represents the probability that any given hit will be a critical hit.

💥 Crit Damage: Set to 1.5, this attribute defines the damage multiplier applied when a crit occurs (in this case, +50% more damage).

These attributes can be modified through commands, datapacks, or other mods, giving full control over how critical hits work in your game or modpack. Whether you're designing a full RPG system or just want to streamline combat, this mod provides a clean foundation for alternative crit mechanics.
