The way Quark Oddities implements a backpack is really unique, and I vastly prefer it compared to other backpack mods for adventure packs. The other backpack mods are either OP, offer too many unneeded features, or unintuitive.

This backpack simply expands your inventory in a clean and visually polished way. That's it! Simple!

I also really like the totem of holding, and prefer to use it compared to other grave mods. It's implemented well, but doesn't offer enough config options, which is why Quark: RotN Edition was made, a fork a Quark that I actually use and recommend if you're looking for more configuration with Quark/Quark Oddities.

Shipping an empty jar as mod is stupid. At this point just make it another config option. But great 36 million downloads.

Quark Oddities, like Quark before it doesn't describe the features it adds on its mod page, leading to people jumping to reddit to ask questions about the expansion pack to the mod of mods. None of the features that Oddities adds are noteworthy or particularly game changing to warrant installing.

Oddities is also not a real addon to Quark. The content "added" by Oddities is actually inside Quark meaning the 936 byte "jar" you download (that pays the developers) was completely unnecessary.

This is emblematic of what i would call "big modding" where a team of devs (in this case Violet Moon) try to maximize the money they can squeeze out of their users, by making "pseudoaddons" to bloated mods, depending on unneeded vanilla wrapper 'librarys', and obsessively promoting a Patreon, Patreon integration, and, in Violet Moon's case, even t-shirts.

You could get the same content from this addon as you could with another empty jar that only tricks the game into loading a mod with the quarkoddities id

About

Quark Oddities is an addon to the Quark Mod.

Oddities provides features designed around what I like to call "Player-Focused Design" (PFD from here on out).

PFD is, in simple terms, design created with the purpose of amplifying the self-gratifying feeling of "I finished it, I'm awesome!" players get when they finish a build. PFD is based around the axiom that "If you were to distill Minecraft to its essence, it would be the moment of gratification when a build is finished and you feel proud of yourself for having built it".

For example, the image above shows off the Quark Oddities Copper Pipes. These pipes are purposely designed to work in an intuitive fashion, but still low to the ground in pathing and "smart" logic. This ensures that pipes are usable for large contraptions, while still being a challenge to do so, and providing that awesome moment when you finish your build.

Oddities is a "pseudoaddon", which means all the code for it is actually in Quark itself, and the Oddities jar serves only as a user friendly way to install the module and filter packs with it. You won't have to update the Oddities mod, as all the updates will be in Quark.
