🔥 Fire is no longer your obedient servant.

Torridium completely overhauls Minecraft's fire mechanics, turning open flames from a simple light source into a dynamic and dangerous environmental threat. Torches, furnaces, and lava now actively heat up their surroundings, eventually igniting flammable structures.

This mod is designed to add a layer of challenge and encourage more thoughtful building, especially in the early game. Think twice before placing that torch on a wooden wall. You've been warned.

!!! DISCLAIMER !!! For demonstration purposes, the ignition chance in this video has been set to an extremely high value (70%). Default settings are much more balanced and slower!

Key Features

  • Dynamic Fire & Heat Physics: The core logic has been completely rewritten using mixins for maximum stability and performance. No more "frozen" fires!

    • Intelligent Burning: The chance for a block to burn away now depends on how many of its sides are on fire. Surrounded blocks burn much faster.
    • "Hungry" Fire: Fire left without nearby fuel will aggressively spread heat over a larger distance in a final attempt to find something new to burn before it dies out.
  • World-Altering Heat Reactions: Heat doesn't just burn; it transforms. Discover dozens of new reactions:

    • Cooking: Smelt cobblestone into stone, sand into glass, and more, right in the world.
    • Cracking: Overheat stone bricks and deepslate to create their cracked variants.
    • Agricultural: Dry out farmland, wither crops, and cook kelp in the water.
    • Utility: Light unlit candles and campfires, and even evaporate water blocks that are too close to intense heat.
  • Atmospheric Sparks: Campfires will occasionally release sparks that can be carried by the wind and start new fires, making their placement a critical decision.

  • World Events: The world is now more alive and dangerous.

    • Droughts: A global drought can start randomly, making everything in the world more flammable for a period of time.
    • Flashpoints: A lightning strike can trigger a localized, high-intensity heat event, turning a simple storm into a potential inferno.
  • Deep Configuration: Almost every aspect of the mod can be configured in-game. Tweak heat radius, ignition chances, event settings, and more.

  • Built for Performance: The mod is designed to be server-friendly. Heat sources are tracked efficiently, and fire processing is limited per tick to prevent lag spikes, even during massive fires.

  • Mod Compatibility: Built-in support for Supplementaries! If it's installed, burnt blocks will leave behind layers of ash.

⚠️ Important Note for World Interaction

Be aware that vanilla structures like villages and woodland mansions were not designed with this mechanic in mind. Their liberal use of torches on wooden surfaces makes them extremely vulnerable. Approaching these structures will activate the heat sources within, potentially starting large fires. It is recommended to handle these structures with caution or adjust the config to your liking.
