I've been playing the modpack for a long time, it's one of the best, if not the best, I've played so far. It doesn't feel repetitive and it's entertaining. There's always room for improvement, but it's mostly a matter of personal taste.

GAMEPLAY: The animations are very good, and the interaction with the environment is very natural. Everything has its purpose, which I appreciate and makes it interesting. However, I would like the environment to be more dynamic, although if I remember correctly, they've already considered this, judging by the posts I see on their Discord.

PERFORMANCE: It's very well optimized. It's true that at the beginning, when you enter the world, you should let it load a bit before moving, otherwise it stutters. But after that, it runs very well, even though I have a low-to-mid-range PC.

AESTHETICS: The aesthetics are very well done. There's a great variety of things and buildings, and the lighting and sounds are very good. However, after playing for a long time, the structures become somewhat repetitive. In my opinion, I would like a little more variety, if possible.

VERY GOOD MOD AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I have played Cursed Walking a lot back then, and one of the packs i've played the most. It's a pretty good and fun modpack, and avoids being too much of a 'kitchen sick' pack. If you love zombie apocalypses, definitely try this pack out.

Gameplay.
There's quite a bit to do in Cursed Walking. You can create machines and contraptions to automate weapon and ammo, you can explore the world and scavenge cities, or you can go full berserk and battle hordes of zombies. There's lots of playstyles and approaches you can do. There's also quests you can complete alongside playing. Cursed Walking is most fun with friends, which i've done lots before on the official MC server. It's a great take on the zombie apocalypse genre.

Performance.
It does take a while to load up, around a minute or more to load into the main menu upon starting. Same with world creation, however it still performs well and has the important and popular performance mods.

Aesthetics.
It does have some world generation mods that help spice things up, and make it different from vanilla. It also has very nicely done custom cities, and unique zombies using Tissou's Zombie Pack. However i feel like it can be made more visually more unique with more custom content.

Disclaimer.
I was previously affiliated with the modpack, being a previous member of the team/studio behind the modpack though have resigned a while ago. However, this is my honest and unbiased review. It has also been a while since i last played it fully, but i've been meaning to play it again.

Description

What is it?

> A fully featured and custom curated zombie apocalypse modpack for the newest versions of Minecraft focusing on exploration, progression, and advancement as you battle the ever increasing zombie threat!

What are the features?

> Zombies are a dangerous threat. They spawn during the day and night, can climb on top of each other, horde together and attack every ten days, and can infect you!

> The apocalypse gets more challenging over time. This modpack has phases where more powerful zombie variants spawn in later days (runner zombies, brutes, etc).

> Lots of weapons and armor to choose from, all seamlessly integrated. Lots of guns from the Timeless and Classic mod and two addons, and armor and melee weapons from Marbled's Arsenal and Melees respectively.

> Lots of structures to find. There are cities, bunkers, laboratories, ruins, and more, all stocked with custom loot tables (including guns!)

> Endgame dimension called the Depths. Find the map to lead you to the drill room and jump through the hole in the bedrock to this dangerous place. Lots of good loot to find, buildings to explore, and unique biomes to discover.

> Custom made zombie creatures. In the Depths you can find the Drone and Feral, two powerful creatures with special attacks and mechanics.

Installation and Questions:

> Installation steps:

1. To get started, go to the files tab and look at the different versions of the Cursed Walking modpack that are available. More details on the differences between these is available in the above spoiler.

2. Next, start the modpack. Once the Minecraft launcher opens up, check how much RAM you have allocated and make sure to set it to at least 4GB, preferably 6GB. This modpack is pretty RAM demanding, and if you are playing with shaders or at a higher render distance you may need to allocate up to 8GB of RAM. Watch this video if you are unsure how to allocate RAM. If you are experiencing random freezing in game, it is most likely because you have not allocated enough RAM.

3. If you are playing single player, create a new world. Cities are enabled by default now, manually enabling them is not needed and discouraged as it might lead to chunk generation errors.

4. This modpack comes with a few core resource packs force-enabled. Other optional resource packs can be enabled by going to options > resource packs.

> General FAQ:

Q: How do I play multiplayer with this modpack?
A: There are a variety of options. 1) Click the banner above and use the code available to get a deal on a server through Wabbanode. You can also use other mainstream server hosts. The modpack server files can be easily downloaded on there to get you set up playing quickly. 2) Use the provided server files to set up your own server. 3) Use a multiplayer mod like e4mc or Essential. These mods have some known issues, especially with larger modpacks like this one and/or when playing with a lot of friends. I recommend using a server unless you plan to play with less than three people.

Q: Are there server files available for this modpack?
A: Yes. The server files are available under "additional files" for each version of the modpack posted in "Files"

Q: Optifine/Oculus is crashing/freezing the modpack; what do I do?
A: Optifine should not be added to the modpack (unless you are playing on the 1.16.5 version). There is shader/resource pack/etc support by default.

> If your question has not been answer in any of these places, ask a question on the LBS discord server in the appropriate channel. If you ask a question that has already been answered, you will be ignored.

Play with a custom map!

> If you want an improvement over the base experience in Cursed Walking, I recommend you download one of the maps available for the modpack. They offer custom designed cities with lots of modded blocks and items with handmade loot tables with lots of modded items. The city rework for Cursed Walking will be out in the future, but until then, if you want to improve cities, playing one of the maps might be a good option.

> Teaser images:

> Info about the map:

There are two maps available, one for the outdated 1.16.5 version of Cursed Walking and a much newer and better one for 1.20.1. Right now it requires a custom modpack to run but soon a custom version of Cursed Walking will be made for that map specifically.

> General FAQ:

Q: How do I download and play the map?
A: You can find zip files with more instructions on how to download on my Patreon and Kofi pages.

Q: Is the map free?
A: The 1.16.5 one is free; the newer one is not. You can choose to subscribe and access the maps at a lower cost, or buy it outright for a bit more.

Q: Can I help work on the map?

A: Maybe! There is an application to become a builder. For more info, join the Build squad discord server dedicated to it. (You get paid!)

Q: I want to know more specifics about the map!
A: Check for more info on the aforementioned discord server, or ask me there if your question hasn't been answered.

> Map download:

You can get the maps on the Onmod's maps Kofi or Patreon pages below:

Want your own modpack or map?

> Credits:

  • Big thanks to MarbledNull for the title image.
  • Thank you to my admins, staff team, and helpers on my Discord server for helping out and answering questions.
  • Also, big thanks to my team who is helping me develop the Zombie Apocalypse map for this modpack!
  • And thank you to all of you who have made suggestions, let me know about errors, etc!
  • And big thanks of course to the Dev team who have brought a lot of the recent features from the drawing board to reality!

> Distribution details:

This modpack's license is All Rights Reserved. Distributing it and reuploading it on Curseforge or another platform, even after modifications, is strictly not allowed. Claims will be made to take down any modpack that is a clone or modified version of this one. Exceptions can be made, but you must speak with me first (via dms on discord)

CW inspired modpacks:
If you want to create a modpack with inspiration from CW, make sure not to include any custom files/assets made for CW (such as kubejs code, fancymenu titles, etc). Further, please do not use the "Cursed Walking" name in your title. Also, it's a good idea to include a unique logo for better differentiation. In the description you are welcome and encouraged to reference CW as the source of inspiration and provide a link back to it.

Approved adaptions:
If you believe Cursed Walking can be adapted in a unique way please reach out to me on discord and share your project. If the project is a unique and high quality take on Cursed Walking it is possible it could be included in the "Approved Adaptions" section listed here. I may or may not ask for a cut of the revenue.
